A good& powerful peptide

Matrixyl on it's own is a very powerful peptide. I love the buffet but this is it's affordable alternative from within the brand. Of all the peptides, matrixyl comes close to giving the benefits of multiple peptides, which is what the buffet does. It is a very good serum, should definitely be part of your skincare stash, very powerful but not reactive(at least not to most), safe & affordable. So should you buy it? Heck yeah! I have spoken in detail about what are peptides & ceramides & actives & what they do on my igtv channel @hajanders & spoken about The Ordinary's products too in length. Do check it out to learn more. Thank You.

I have a super strict skincare regime, which is rotated so that my skin gets a little of everything every week. A serum is a must for me. Full of goodness that my skin laps up. I absolutely LOVE this one (along with Multi Peptide / Buffet). I start by cleansing and toning, then I use a mist (either Pixi milky or clarity are my go to at the mo), then either this serum or Buffet, and finish with TO moisturiser. Honestly, since I started this regime around two years ago, my skin has never looked better. I am 52 - I have absolutely no lines or sagginess. My skin is clear, blemish free and plumped, with a healthy glow. No one believes me when I tell them my age :) Honestly, this is a must and makes a huge difference to my skin.

Love it!!!!

I ordered a bottle of this serum, along with a bottle of the Ordinary's argireline serum. I was excited to see how they worked. I was not disappointed. I was amazed and very happy with the results I seen after just one use. I just applied the argireline serum first, because it's very lightweight and watery, but such a wonderful product. The directions say to apply a few drops to the eye and forehead area, because it's for expression lines. But I also applied a few drops around my mouth, above my top lip, and even patted drops on my lips. I waited about 5 mins, then applied the matrixyl serum all over my face.(and lips too). Within a total of maybe 10 mins at the most, I looked at least 10 years younger. I will use these 2 serums from the Ordinary, from now on. I bought Niacinamide 10% + zinc 1%, Matrixyl 10% + HA and Retinol 1% in squalane to use together after reading previous reviews and I've only been using for about a week and I am truly amazed and so happy with the results so far! Turning 38 in a couple of week and after having quite a troubling and stressful year my skin has been starting to show the signs of the stress I've been under and dropping on this company totally by chance has been the best thing. I've been really conscience of my glabellar line and tired eyes and general dullness to my skin and I've already seen a difference in the severity of my fine lines and my skin feels firmer and healthy and completely blemish free!! Matrixyl - as expected - awesome!
2 December 2022

Long-time TO customer - bought my first Matrixyl this month with the expectation that I have always had from TO. I have no illusions about what to expect from skincare (ie no reverting back to flawless young skin) - but now only use TO products. I love the transparency and care that they factor in to their business model and I feel the products are utterly safe to use.Matrixyl - a little goes a long way - if it feels sticky, you've overdone it. I finger-pat it in the areas that need some love and then layer with a little natural moisturizing factors + ha. By the time I've brushed my teeth everything is settled and absorbed! I usually add a light flick of translucent fiinishing powder for daytime and I'm done.Matrixyl has helped me to look like I've had a good, ... MoreLong-time TO customer - bought my first Matrixyl this month with the expectation that I have always had from TO. It certainly helps to make my skin plumper and fresher. I'm in my 60's and my lines are not exactly fine (or bothersome to me) - but my skin does feel better for using it. (am+pm). I'll probably swap out the natural moisturizing factors + ha with 100% plant-derived squalane as the winter cracks on. Really pleased with this product

The #1 Serum I couldn't live without
24 August 2021

For my morning routine, I use three drops of Niacinimide mixed with three drops of Hylauronic Acid + B5 every morning. Now, while I adore those products for morning use and for the sake of balancing out my facial oils, minimizing blackheads/acne, and giving a boost of hydration... if I had to choose between those two products over a Matrixyl serum, I would 100% go for the Matrixyl. The Matrixyl, I use for my night regiment by implementing four to five drops (for my face and neck) per night with a dampened face. Matrixyl performs as an intense hydrator (I'd say about two to three times better than hyaluronic acid) and appears to brighten the physical appearance of your skin within a week of consistent use. If anything, I would say that my face feels more evenly hydrated using the Matrixyl than it does to use both the Niacininimide and Hylauronic Acid + B5 during the morning. That said, just to preface, I mix the Niacinimide with the Hyaluronic acid to dilute the product from 10% to about 5% since my face is extremely sensitive. So, to avoid irritation/burning, I was suggested to do just that.My skin before adopting serums into my skincare routine was S U P E R dehydrated and somewhat oily as the day went on no matter what cleanser or moisturizer was used. I have sensitive rosacea-prone, dry-combination skin, and keeping an evenly hydrated skin texture was something I never assumed I would be capable of having BUT ever since I adjusted my skincare regiment, for the first time, I can wholeheartedly say that my skin breaks out less, has less visible blackheads (still there, but the quantity/visibility/darkness over the past five months has lessened), not irritated/inflamed (still red, of course, but muted), no longer itchy from dryness, appears visibly brighter/clear, and retains moisture throughout a 12 hour period before washing my face again for the night (using solely four to five drops of the Matrixyl serum).Using about four drops nightly lasts me about five months before needing to repurchase the product. The consistency has a thicker texture but it isn't sticky/tacky. The glass container is thick and won't shatter if you knock it over on the counter. After knocking it on the counter (cap open, but somehow it never spilled) on more than a few occasions, I can guarantee it's not a cheap/thin glass container. So, I'd say that finding a broken container upon shipping isn't something to worry about! I would suggest ensuring your face is damp before applying the serum since the Matrixyl, just like a Hylauronic acid, is meant to trap the present moisture on your face, so without moisture, it may not feel as hydrated after its application. That said, it's well worth its price point and a truly quality product. I couldn't endorse this company enough!

This has been magical for my skin!
13 January 2023

Last year, my resolution was to invest in good skincare. I watched a lot of YouTube reviews and tutorials, and settled on The Ordinary because everyone loves it and it's affordable. I started with the squalene cleanser and hyaluronic acid, and gradually added more, until I now feel I have found the right routine. I am 59 years old, and thankfully look younger, but I was troubled by dryness and fine lines. Now that I am using hyaluronic acid, Granactive Retinoid and Matrixyl together each night, and Matrixyl / hyaluronic acid in the am (plus moisturizer), I see SUCH a difference! My skin is glowy, and the lines are not as noticeable; I actually looked in the mirror the first thing this morning and was startled at how good my skin looked WITHOUT MAKEUP. Wish this was available without HA
30 April 2023

I love the ingredients and have been using this product for the past few years and saw improvements fairly quickly. I live in a very Phoenix, and it is really dry here. Not only is the climate dry, the air conditioning also dries out the indoor air. HA doesn’t work in a dry climate and can actually pull the moisture from your skin. so a few hours into the day, my skins feels parched. HA is all the rage now, but it isn’t appropriate for everyone. I still use this product but have to go through several steps to try to minimize the HA effect. I would urge the ordinary to consider making a formula without the HA for those of us in dry climates.

With the argiline. Smoker lines disapearing
26 July 2022

Please don’t come after me, - I smoked for over 28 years. This combined with the argireline solution has had the most significant impact on my fine lines, in just over two weeks. I have also had issues with retnoids, retinols, sunscreens, you name it. If it has been marketed to make your wrinkles disappear, seems to work for everyone else, it just makes mine worse or agitates my skin.I have been using the argireline solution, matrixyl, then putting a very small amount of Vaseline over top my forehead and eye area. I was using the squaline oil instead of the Vaseline but it was too light and dissipated too quickly ( although it is excellent for hair or a light body/ nail moisturizer). It was very nice on its own ( very light, watery formula), however adding this and covering with the Vaseline has definitely kicked it up a notch.I am still looking for a substitute oil/cream instead of the Vaseline but everything else seems to either not be heavy duty enough ( to hold it in overnight ) or contradict ( can not use acids and such with this ).

Works well, but takes a lot of time
16 September 2023

I'm 28, I have dry sensitive skin, and rather pronounced dynamic lines on my forehead. The lines were there since I was a teen, just a skin feature of active facial expressions I guess. In the last couple of (very stressful) years these lines got deeper and longer, across all my forehead. I tried multiple products and this one is the best so far. It took a couple of months until I noticed the results. My lines smoothened out, not completely of course, but they are far less noticeable. Strange enough it didn't seem to affect my smile lines or area around the eye so much. However, once I'm out of this product, it seems like the lines are coming back, so I will keep using this for now.
