I bought a three-pack of these a few weeks ago and I was a little nervous about setting it up - the last time I installed WiFi was a few years ago and it was a major pain. This time was totally different. The instructions are delivered via the Deco app, and they are so easy to follow! I had the first one up and running within about 10 minutes - that was the main one that has to be wired to ethernet. The other two took even less time and the setup went off without a single glitch. I liked them so much I bought three more, and now I have a six-AP mesh network covering my entire home and out to about 150 feet from the exterior walls. I even have it in my garage and cellar, where the signal before was dismal or non-existent. Let's just start by stating i had no idea that you can hardwire a mesh unit to a gaming pc in a different room. Had no idea what they were. I decided to try them since i had a gaming PC on the main floor (modem upstairs office) and my router with extenders wasn't cutting it. I used to get 50 download speeds on the gaming laptop on the main floor. I pay for a gig but only got 50.... yea I know ... GREAT speeds hahah NOT.I tried 3 mesh units until i got this one .. and This one is the real deal!#1 Eero first and it worked ok but it only game me speeds up to 250. Even the PC that is hardwired to the eero that was connected to the modem (it should have been getting a gig or close to that) After about a week the speeds were always dropping.... RETURNED#2 Orbi - PRICEYYYYYY so i thought this would be the one. Not only is it pricey but U_G_L_Y and big. I set it up and about the same as the Eero just a tad faster at 300-350 download. About 2 days later the satellites were only getting 90 down.... Worse than the Eero.... RETURNEDThen i read the new Pro Deco 55 w 2 2.5 ports and thought OK this is my last go ... if this doesnt work paying someone to hardwire it is.. THIS thing blew my mind.... OVER a gig from the router connected to the mdem ( and i pay for a gig dont know how that works lol) and the other units on the main floor hardwired into the Deco is giving 500-900 down..... am totally shocked. Been stable that way for about a week now. Setup was easy the app looks clean and not confusing. So if you are like me and Basic knowledge person that just wants to get what you pay for internet wise with good house coverage DONT get the others ... the TP Link Deco 55 pro was the best for me overall.Hope this helps

I purchased the AX3000 Whole Home Mesh Wifi system, which has 3 Decco X55 Pro units, to replace my old Google mesh wifi after I upgraded to a 1Gbps download/upload fiber connection. I configured the system with a 50ft CAT8 ethernet cable going from the garage, where the ISP router/modem is, to my kitchen where I put the main Decco unit. Second unit in line of sight of the kitchen unit in a central area and third unit upstairs in line of sight of the central area unit. I got 650-700Mbps in the garage directly from the ISP router/modem (why it's less than 1Gbps is a different issue I have to bring up with the ISP). I also got 650Mbps or so (meaning almost the entire ISP bandwidth) in the kitchen, so that was good. And around 550-600 in the central area unit ... MoreI purchased the AX3000 Whole Home Mesh Wifi system, which has 3 Decco X55 Pro units, to replace my old Google mesh wifi after I upgraded to a 1Gbps download/upload fiber connection. I figured from the Decco app that it had configured itself with the kitchen unit as the main and the other 2 as the satellites of the main. Since the upstairs one had a medium connection to the kitchen, so the drop in bandwidth (I figured). I tried to force the Decco to daisy chain the kitchen unit to the central unit and that unit to the upstairs unit, but the app doesn't have the option! Decco support also didn't help much - I could dig up more info from the internet than they could. Finally I discovered a post by a user which essentially suggested I put a metal saucepan on my kitchen unit, and reboot my upstairs unit so it would connect to the central area unit instead of stubbornly connecting to the kitchen. That did the trick! However, I still didn't get much luck with the upstairs bandwidth - it' still around 250, not 500. So I'm not happy on 2 counts - first, the Decco app should allow the user to override their smart system when needed. Second, and much more importantly, neither the original "flower" configuration, nor the forced daisy chain configuration are able to deliver the bandwidth I need everywhere I need it! That's what mesh systems are supposed to do!

Was hoping this would replace my old router and access point but devices sometimes connect to the wrong deco and just awful speeds when that happens. Tech support is terrible too. One deco connected to to a switch was giving horrendous speeds below 40mbps. Thinking of just going back to what I had.UPDATEAfter a firmware update the issue with the switch was fixed. Also now able to set preferred deco which helps in some instances.
I have over 5.000sq ft house and I been trying to find a WiFi booster, my son was always complaining about his lagging games and at upstairs, his speed was about 40-90mb and unstable. After buying this booster his speed over 200mb and stable. Thanks A lot!, keep up the good work!
I loved how easy the setup was. I didn’t really do much and adding a device was a simple as plugging it in. Each device found the main router and configured itself. My house has complete coverage and I even have a device in the window of my barn workroom. The app is nice and simple. Mainly I check the network optimization occasionally. So far all is good. I will be trying different things as the system evolves. But, no significant issues yet.
Unable to connect tech support tried to help but couldn’t get it to work
Update: My review of the X55 pro stands as it does not have VPN support. The X55 (not pro) does have VPN support and I added it to the home network. The VPN support function did appear in the DECO app. I rated it 4 stars overall since the VPN setup is not as intuitive as the Netgear routers. Overall the coverage is very good and Wi-Fi speeds are at the full gigabit speeds of my isp. Small size, low power draw and do indeed look attractive on display. Does have the ability to turn off all lights.X-55 Pro review: How can anything labeled PRO not have a feature that is a deal killer for most well connected households? The X55 non pro has it!Buyer beware.
I update my Wi-Fi equipment about every two years, always with TP-Link (I think they are a world leader with this equipment)! This MESH systems IS, for me , the next level. Way better then just adding “extenders). With my old system at the furthest point my speed was weak, not consistent and around 10 MBPS. Now I clock it 200-350 MBPS.Enough said!
We had a decent router but when we moved into a bigger house, the wifi connections were not that great. We tried using wifi extenders, but the signals were still pretty slow. So I decided to look into "mesh" systems and found this TPLink system which got good reviews so I took a chance, knowing that there were free returns on it in case it didn't help with our wifi speeds and signal. The system was easy to set up and afterwards I did a speedtest on my tablet in various areas of the house, including the front and back yards, and the speeds were impressive. ROKU channels load up quickly too. It's only been an hour or so since I set up the TPLink mesh system, but I'm very pleased so far. If I find that it starts dropping out or I have problems down the road, then I'll ... MoreWe had a decent router but when we moved into a bigger house, the wifi connections were not that great.
