I'm replacing my Ring doorbell due to the price hikes of their tied-in cloud services. This camera is an excellent alternative with local or fee based cloud storage.Excellent picture quality, easy to install and easy to setup. Intergrates easily into the Tapo app and Alexa, viewable through my Echo Show.Nice job Tapo.

Easy Setup and Installation

As with all rechargeable products this needed charging for a few hours before use. Installing the app and setting up the doorbell and chime was possible while the device was charging and it was pretty straight forward following the on-screen instructions. I used the supplied wedge when fitting the doorbell to the door frame to improve the coverage of my front path. Picture quality looks good, even at night. There is a reasonable choice of rings but I haven't worked out a way to customise the alert sound on my android phone for motion detection as it sounds the same as an email arriving. Apart from that, the only downside I've found so far is that the doorbell is quite chunky (especially with the wedge) and isn't as neat as, say, the Ring doorbell.

Well, the first one went badly wrong it froze so you could'nt do anything with it. So swapped it for another one but this time used a wifi booster, set involved more options than the previous one. Plenty of options to use to customise settings to your liking picture quality is frankly amazing, notifications work and pick up anyone near it. So, after a dodgy start all went well. It now shows up in the app along with the tapo camera's and the battery life is excellent.

Excellent video doorbell

Already having Tapo cameras, it made sense to buy the video doorbell when I found tapo did them and we needed one after receiving some 1.20am visitors to the door, only to find no one there when opening.I'm definitely impressed. As per usual tapo, the quality of the camera is beautifully clear. It's easy to set up and install, and if you buy the doorbell and chime pack - as I did, and you're partially deaf, you'll hear the chime, it's one of the clearest chimes I've ever heard.As an added bonus, it also has an anti theft alarm, which is great.Highly recommend, especially at such a decent price for excellent kit.

Good doorbell camera

Happy so far with the camera, it took a little longer than expected to set it up via the app but not difficultOne of the reviews I read said you need a perfectly flat wall to put it on. Our wall is brick so I was a little concerned about fitting however the camera comes with a foam backing pad to help create a flat surface which worked perfectly on my wall. The screws that it comes with are a bit fiddly due to the head size but once in were fine. There are 10 different ring tones including a Christmas one. Overall very happy with this so far and would recommend this doorbell when compared to more expensive ones that don’t even include a chime. There is no requirement to have a monthly subscription for data storage although you can if you wish

Ok but…..

Liked the features of this video doorbell so ordered it. However it would not pair up with the phone app after trying for hours. Contacted TP-Link tech support who were not much use at all really, they couldn’t get it to work either, they just got off the phone quick and then emailed me generic connecting details which they had just gone through with me without success! so sadly I sent it back, went for the Eufy instead 👍🏻

Pretty good and great features, but definitely prefer wired

Having to remember or look out for notifications to change my doorbell and that having to actually go do that would be so annoying I don’t think I could handle it.So that being said, if you’re getting this because wired isn’t an option where you live, the battery on this is pretty good, but you’ll almost definitely have to charge it at least weekly. And if you CAN do a wired doorbell instead where you live, hands down do that instead, even if it’s more work to have to wire it up and everything, you’ll be grateful you did in the long run.As for the rest of the features, honestly this doorbell and app are seriously incredible and I couldn’t happier with it. Camera quality is great, user/package recognition is really good, accessing recordings is easy and well designed, microphones and speakers on it are good, included doorbell sound speaker is great and easy to use (just plug it in to an outlet and that’s it) so yes, this thing is pretty fantastic all in all.Overall, while I do have my personal dislike of having to recharge a doorbell like this, I think for someone who doesn’t have the option to wire in a doorbell, this is absolutely fantastic and I give it a 10/10, definitely recommend! It’s a really great doorbell with a lot of features and great app support at a really fair price for this kind of device and functionality.

Review of TP-LINK Tapo D210 2K 3 MP WiFi Video Doorbell with Chime - White

Easy to fit. I had a bit of trouble connecting to my WiFi but it appears more to be an issue with my WiFi than the doorbell. It has lost connection to the WiFi numerous times since, but again possibly my WiFi that's at issue. The battery has been draining quicker than I would like but possibly due to me looking at Live View too much. Good selectibility of detection zones and notification of movement and doorbell button presses. I bought this as it connects to my Google home as I don't use Alexa. Overall it works well.

The best doorbell I have found

Our old doorbell from another company just didnt make the quality. The picture was bad, the audio was terrible and nobody could hear you speaking to them. The quality of this doorbell is fantastic. Better video and sound than any other I have found. I even bought one for the daughter. Fantastic!
