I LOVE MY SMOKEY JOE GRILL! This is my 4th one. Had one for the ski condo, another for the beach and vacation destinations, and my 2nd one for home (after 11 years, it was time to get another. Not because there was something wrong with it, but my wife told me to buy a new one). I've been a loyal Weber customer for well over 30 years and I know quality when I see it. All my Weber grills have lasted for many, many years including the ones I bought for my kids over a decade or more ago. And, just like the Smokey Joe, those gas grills are indestructible. But, as for my "baby Weber", you just can't beat it, and very portable. I would recommend the Smokey Joe BBQ to anyone who enjoys charcoal barbequing and all the other reasons I previously mentioned. Keep up the good ... MoreI LOVE MY SMOKEY JOE GRILL! This is my 4th one. It's nothing fancy, but it does the job. I've been seeing mods for this everywhere. The most common one is to drill some air holes in the bottom. I thought about it, but after using it 5 or so times, I really don't think it's necessary. I got the Premium specifically because of the side vents. They never clog. I've been getting excellent results. It gets just as hot or maybe even hotter than the regular SJ that it replaced. I haven't temp checked it, but it'll melt your face off.

It is a nice grill for one or two people. It is a good idea to use a chimney with it as well. I like to split it in half with direct and indirect heating but it is a bit small half for putting in my 16 ounce ribeyes. It does fit the smaller NY strip steaks. I also put in two burgers at a time (half for direct and other for indirect heating). I think I would get a bigger grill so I can put more bigger pieces of meat. Maybe itf it was 18" it would be perfect. However, for the price, this grill is great. I got it at Walmart.

Great grill
9 February 2024

Decided to splurge for a new Smokey Joe after I used the hell out of my old one. Great grill for what I need it for. Gave 5 stars, but there are a couple tiny issues. This is the second one where the handle does not fasten completely. Also, this one the bowl does seem to (slightly) mis shaped. The cooking grate moves around in there a little. Maybe it will settle in the more I grill. Not issues that would tempt me to send it back, but I can see where this might bug a perfectionist. Overall, solid grill for $47.

Great little grill
10 September 2024

I just recently bought this little Smokey Joe, and it is perfect for my wife and I. We're empty nesters now and don't always have the need to cook large amounts of food. I still have and use my 22" often, and always will, but for the times I only want to cook a couple nice steaks, chops, chicken breasts, or even some burgers and dogs, this fits the bill perfectly. I was impressed with how little fuel it uses. Depending on brand and size, 10 to 15 briquettes is all that is needed. I would definitely recommend this. Same great quality and craftsmanship as all of the other Weber products I've owned for the last 50 years.

Great size, easy to use
22 April 2024

I am enjoying my new Smokey Joe Charcoal Grill. I had purchased a Little Weber in 2002 and it was far past retirement. This grill was very easy to put together. All the parts were included, which was very nice. I have used it four times with great results each time. It is perfect size for just me. I like the addition of the ash catcher. Since my first Weber grill lasted so long, I expect this one to outlast me. It is a pleasure to use.

Nice grill if it wasn’t out of spec
28 February 2024

I loved my Smokey Joe when I first pulled it out of the box. Upon assembly, I discovered the bowl to be out of round. The lid barely fits and the grate barely stays in place without falling down. I sent pictures to customer service, and after back and forth for a week, I still haven’t received a new bowl. My pictures clearly show the huge gap from grate to bowl, and instead of making this right, webers customer service is more concerned with me sending 30 pictures, because I assume they dont trust that they sent me a screwed up bowl. I’m busy, and I want to barbecue. I have sent proof the bowl is messed up. I’m done wasting time. Would not recommend a Weber unless you can go in the store and verify everything is right.

Smokey Joe Bowl/Bottom Vent Worthless
4 July 2024

I’ve had 4 Weber Smokey Joe’s over the last 24 years. The first lasted at least approximately 15 years (until given away). The 2nd lasted about 6 years (threw out because bottom vent no longer moved). 3rd last 1 year (threw out 2 days ago because the bottom vent became inoperable). Unboxing the 4th right now - and I know this will be my very last Smokey Joe because right out of the box (even prior to assembling), the bottom vent takes effort to open & close (I have to hold the bowl to rotate the vent - how in the world does Weber expect the bottom vent to EASILY open & close when the grill is: 1. Assembled; 2. Right side up; 3. Scorching HOT??? TOTAL SAEFTY ISSUE!!I should point out that the top vent has never given me trouble in my 4 Smokey Joe’s. Why can’t Weber engineer the bottom vent the same as the top?? Or is the top vent easier to open/close because it is not centered, like the bottom vent?? Regardless, Weber, there are issues with the bottom vent! How & When will you address this??PS: I also have a Weber Spirit gas grill (14 years old)

Weber Smokey Joe.. never disappoints
22 October 2024

This was a replacement to our old Smokey Joe that we’ve had for 20+ years. Grew up with Weber grills. Perfect size for the two of us and also when we grill for the family! At home or on our camping trips. We have a Weber gas grill at home but there are times I want to charcoal grill. Camping it’s a must have. Definitely recommend this Smokey Joe for its ease of use and quality construction. I’ve found that Webers Rapidfire Chimney Charcoal Starter to be easier way to light the charcoal and have even burn!I love my Smokey Joe grill!!

Wrecked Christmas with piece of junk.

The grill surface does not sit flush. Any pressure applied and the grill grate sinks in and almost flips over. Contacted Weber support and they mailed me more parts that were also deemed out of tolerance. I literally sent the customer support pictures with measurements and they agreed that my grill was out of tolerance, sent me new parts that were also out of tolerance twice (according to weber support). Then they quit responding. I have ordered a new stainless grill grate from a Chinese company and it fits way better. I should have went with the $25 china special from Lowes. This is my 6th Weber grill and it sure seems like every time I buy one the products get made at a lower quality level but yet the products seem to always get more expensive.
