This mini terror provides plenty of crunch. However, I did not fancy the JJ Tesla 12AX7 tube in it (read up on your vacuum tube history; they're all garbage now) as it sounds loose on the bottom end and harsh and brittle on the top-end. Silly me; I just happen to own a matched set of BNIB (brand new in box) pair of 1958 USA made CBS 12AX7's made in Davenport with the "Good Housekeeping" seal (you won't see that anymore) printed on the boxes. Overall:This thing is awesome! Great overdriven tube sound that will clean up nicely or give you as much crunch as you want. The clean sound is actually really nice- clear and sparkly. The drive side is flat out great, has a very vintage voice when set to 3/4 or hard crunch when turned all the way up. Turn it down to 2/3 and it has a nice "rock" tone and put a dumble style pedal juiced up for when you need a boost- awesome combination. Super portable and built rock solid. I know it will always get looked down on because of size and price, but this thing is just flat fantastic.

I bought this with a ppc108 cabinet - as my review for that cab says, I was very surprised how good and powerful they are together. I thought I would eventually get a larger cabinet for it, but i would only need to if using it for a live performance with a full band. (might be able to get away with ppc108 with a quiet drummer...) For just playing by myself or jamming with other guitar/bass players it is more than enough. This amp can get you great classic rock tone - but I play all styles of music and generally more jazz and hard rock sometimes into the metal range - and this sounds great for that as well. For full on metal you might want to add your favorite distortion pedal but the tube overdrive of the amp itself sounds fantastic! I haven't tried myself but this thing can drive a 4X12 cabinet pretty well according to videos that I've seen. It really sounds like a slightly scaled back version of a full amp head. for the price you will not be disappointed. You could definitely use this for amateur recording - probably professional recording as well but by then you've probably got a bigger amp. Any one who wants a tube amp to mess around with but doesn't have a lot of money to throw around should check this out - or if you just want something very portable. Note that this is a hybrid, it has solid state power and one tube for the preamp, but don't be afraid, it sounds great! It's louder than you might expect and although with the ppc108 it dosen't have extreme low end, it still has good low tones when used with six string guitars in standard as well as C tuning and I have used it with an 8 string guitar, which flops a little on the low string but with a larger cabinet would probably be fine. I highly recommend this amazing tiny amp. Watch some youtube videos if you aren't convinced. For portability the ppc108 cabinet works very well with this and still sounds very nice, but again you can power larger cabinets including 4X12.

I had a three factors as the reason to go with this 1 because the price point and the fact its a head that makes for more uses. 2 Orange has a sound that is as unique as VOX but "grimy and nasty" is what they should put instead of dirty, it gets down. 3 Orange is as cool as the other side of the pillow (Miss you Mr. Stuart Scott).

Micro Terror For Life!

I've dropped mine off Full-stacks, car trunks, car roofs, shelves, and down stairs. It looks, and sounds as if none of this abuse had happened, and I've owned it for over 5 years now without any issues. Solid rugged metal chassis is built to last. Something about it's lunch box size has just made me put it in careless places, but apparently its accident proof.I'll start by saying, its not QUITE loud enough for band practices. If that's what your looking to use it for, you'll need a soft drummer or something slightly bigger. I was able to use it, but i had it cranked, you might not be as loud as we were so you may find its perfect, but just my input on that matter. If your looking for a practice amp the Orange Crush 35RT has been great to me.HOWEVER! This amp out of the box is a delight. Warm, beautiful Orange Tube tones for a price that is unbeatable. Crank the Gain and she rips hard. The tone from Clean to break up and to full dirty is fully adjustable with every minor tweak of the knobs, you have a different tone. I've used it with 4x12 cabs and its GREAT, but i use it in my home studio with a 1x12 just out of personal preference. I swapped the tube to a mesa brand, and i think it has a little more dirt and some volume. A friend had bought the micro dark, and mine sounds more angry and definitely louder compared side by side. I honestly don't think there is a comparable quality sounding amp until you get upwards of 350. Tonally this is a great place to jam and be inspired. And the headphone out/ aux in makes it really easy to just toss on the desk and practice silently.I say toss because you can literally toss this thing! Your tube might break, but slap a new one in and turn it up! If you think you might want one, get one! Used is safe, these things are built to LAST!

Orange Micro Terror and Amp
9 March 2022

Bought this just for a little portable amp and speaker to move around for practice. However, the sound is nothing short of great especially for the small outlay of only £158. Amp can still go more than loud enough and also takes pedals well too. With the addition of a reverb pedal it is now becoming something of a go to. Last but not least it also looks extremely cool too!! Would highly recommend.

Big tube amp from small package. The tube driven preamp gives that warm full tube tone at the price and scale of a compact solid state amplifier. The gain seems to function best up to 12:00 high. After that, you get too much unwanted distortion. When played with very little gain, this amp gives a bright "chimey" tele sound. I noticed a little ac hum when turning up the treble. My guitar has a split coil switch on the humbucking pickups and the ac hum is more pronounced when in single coil mode. I was able to get rid of that completely by using a Pyle PHE400 Hum / Noise Eliminator. I purchased this 8 ohm version to replace a bad amplifier in a very old Peavy guitar amplifier cabinet. For the mounting plate, do a search on this site for BLACK METAL SINGLE 1/4" SPEAKER CABINET JACK PLATE 2" OUTSIDE DIA. This combination produces enough volume for our church band in about a 2000 sq ft sanctuary. It's also perfect for an in-home practice amp. These are made in 4 ohm and 8 ohm versions, so make sure your speaker and amplifier are matched in impedance. Great value for the price!

Small, lighweight, with lots of tone. Recording with this amp is great. Stays stacked on top of a loadbox on a recording desk, and it doesn't take much space. I can fire it up whenever I want to play or record guitar without much hassle. Great distortion when paired with a drive pedal. My IR's sound great with this amp. Blending a bass cab with a guitar cab creates something incredible. Tone control gives a pretty wide sweep which I like. Haven't tried it with a real cabinet yet, but I believe it sounds awesome. I use it primarily for recording.Ignore the headphone output, it never sounds good on any orange amps I've tried. Sounds shrill and thin when driven. This is a powerful little amp with excellent sound, great entry level into the orange brand. The only thing I’d like is a buffered effects loop like on the micro dark, which in turn is missing the aux in jack of the micro terror.I get some people want the 4 gain stage of the micro dark over the 2 of the micro terror but it’s a bit frustrating they interchanged features which would be important for both. That being said, the micro terror takes pedals in the front great, especially if you like valve distortion after reverb…Definitely recommended you give this a try, it’s amazing what orange can fit into such a small package for this price.
