All 4 thunderbolt/USBc ports on my MBP are in use everyday. I have 3 external drives and a CF Express card reader that have only one port to share so it was a constant dance of ejecting and plugging in a different dive or reader throughout the day. Now all 4 are plugged into the same port and things go much quicker. I haven't tested it for speed, but haven't noticed any slow downs and I use two of the drives for 4K & 5K video footage. I have 8TB on my MBP so the drives are mostly storage for completed projects not having t read from them when editing. I would buy it again.

Unfortunately, it won't work with my setup. I tried to use to connect a Seagate One Touch 4TB drive using a USB-C to USB 3.0 cable. The setup works ok when connected directly to my MacBook, but when connected to the hub the drive gets corrupted. Contacted support and they suggested a compatibility issue with the cable...

I intended this as a hub for my three USB-C drives, powered by one of the two USB-C sockets on my iMac that are currently used by the USB-C to HDMI converter that feeds the second monitor, and the USB-C to Thunderbolt 3 converter that feed my external storage.Neither one of those two works when plugged into this hub, which will take away one of the two USB-C ports on the iMac.This explains to me the note that video is not supported by this hub; USB 3 does not support that, it takes at least thunderbolt 3 or USB-C to do that. So, obviously this is just a USB 3 hub with USB-C connectors. It looks like we just have to wait until the USB-C chips needed for making true USB-C hubs with multiple outlets become available.

My MacBook Air M2 only has two USB-C ports, I needed more for my backup drive and Brother Label printer. I think it's a good looking accessory that has a small foot print and provides me with more USB-C ports. I tried to connect my Super Drive CD/DVD drive to it and found that the hub does not power the drive. Other wise this is a great accessory to my computer and my work desk.
I own a 16 MacBook Pro. It has four USB-C ports and nothing else.Port 1: the power supply.Port 2: the multiport box containing USB, HDMI and SD ports.Port 3: 2GB SSD with my photos on it.Port 4: 1GB SSD with my archived data on it.Port 5: my backup-device cableWhat Port 5? Exactly. The simple reality is that if you actually USE your machine, four ports aren't enough. With this box, you now have seven ports and a much more usable computer.
I wanted this port to add more external drives to my laptop. It works great. I am just storing and backing up photos to several drives. It works great. I don't monitor speed of backup because speed is not important to me. I just know it is quick and it works.
Recommended ...if you need a device with 4 USB-C ports...performs well with my intel version 2020 MacBook Pro 16 which has limited number of ports. I would have given it 5 stars had it also came with a couple of USB B ports as well for convenience ..but not a deal breaker .This port is dinky small and highly portable ..the only thing I can't confirm is data transfer rate speeds as I haven't done a true test but so far I haven't noticed any noticeable speed impediment issues. So far ..Very happy .
I had no idea that such a hub existed until an employee at a Simply Mac store recommended this. This is certainly the cat's meow! FANTASTIC! It is incredibly practical. I have my Apple Watch charger plugged in, another hub with USB ports plugged in. And I have two additional USB-C ports remaining. The product arrived quickly. Highly recommended.
Since the 2017 MacBook Pro debuted with USB-C only ports, the internet has been alive with calls (1st) for adaptors to use our existing USB-A peripherals and devices , and then calls for a hub/adaptor to use additional USB-C peripherals and devices.Satechi stepped up to the plate virtually instantly with a number of well engineered, well priced and easy to use adaptors and hubs for use with USB-A devices. Well done! But as the need for USB-C to USB-C grew with production of USB-C compliant devices, the need for more USB-C ports grew and until now was unanswered. Oh, and their sense of Jony Ive-like style in the product line is likeable as well.Bottom Line: Great much awaited Product at a great price.
Thanks to Apple stupidly thinking everyone is into minimalism I needed a USB C hub with all USB C ports. I'm still kind of shocked there are so few to choose from. This one is great though, and cheap in price.A USB C to USB C connector cable would have been better than the short pigtail cable it comes with, but the hub works great as-is. I was running three SSDs through my M1 Mac Mini and it works great even for large Kontakt libraries that are notoriously slow to load. That said I did upgrade to a powered thunderbolt hub and now use this for less intensive devices like midi controllers.
