ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL!I JUST got through using it, to cut off a locking trailer hitch pin, that didn't unlock anymore!COMPLETELY "*EFFORTLESS*" experience!I LOVE this little one hander!I was able to control, and "steer" the shaft of the hitch pin with my free hand, to aid in the cutting off, of the bent end, on the opposite side of the lock!

I bought one of these last year (July 2022) as part of a set. It replaced a large cordless saw (DW938) that lasted nearly 20 years before the plastic handle disintegrated. I like this saw because it is smaller and easier to maneuver, but the ergonomics of one aspect, and the instruction book, are terrible. You would think that it would be easy to figure out how to install and remove the blade, but Dewalt has a mechanism for this saw that seems to have been deliberately designed to be confusing. You only have to twist the spring-loaded collar (the direction is obvious), insert the blade, and let the collar engage with the blade, and everything is fine. The problem arises when it is time to replace the blade. If you haven't done this before, or it has been a while, ... MoreI bought one of these last year (July 2022) as part of a set. The problem arises when it is time to replace the blade. If you haven't done this before, or it has been a while, you look down onto the collar and see a slot on one side of the collar. The natural instinct would be to turn the collar TOWARDS this slot, which is obviously a guide for the mechanism. You can try this many times, and I bet some people have even resorted to using a pair of pliers to "loosen it up". But NO, you have to rotate the collar AWAY from the visible slot in order to release the blade. If you don't use this tool often you will go nuts trying to release the blade. The instructions are no help, either. They just say to "rotate the collar" to release it. No idea which direction. The instruction manuals are generally useless, but this seems to be the trend in manuals for everything. Lawyers and insurance companies insist that they include pages and pages of Warnings! and Cautions! and Dangers! and Notices! about everything that anyone has done with tools, and warn not to do them. Finally, my wife liked the DW938 better. She said that even though it was MUCH heavier, it was easier for her to use.

For someone who has infrequent use of a power tool but needs good value for the money this is the one. It works well. Cuts through wood branches with proper blade. Safe, non-intimidating. You have to concentrate on keeping the blade in a single cutting plane to avoid breaking the blade. You can tell is you're out of the cutting plane when the branches smokes. The engine while using a 3ah battery has moer than enough power for a good hour's worth of usage. Normal load - you're not going to cut down a 100 year old oak. It's for small 2 inch branches and the like. I'm happy with it. Comes with two blades - one for wood one for metal/plastic and a belt clip. Highly recommend.

Saw a carpenter using a similar cordless tool (another brand) a few years back and boy was it handy. Then the other day my wife said "could you use this?" a tool w/same design yet again another brand. Since I already own several Dewalt 20V MAX brushless cordless tools decided to see if they had something similar and sure enough they did so bought it. Started using it the same day simply loving it.Pro:- Compact design- One-handed use- Lightweight- Tool free blade release- LED light- Variable speed- Brushless motor- Nice ergonomics- Powerful (if one holds expectations in check)- Priced rightCons:- None that I can think ofGreat little tool IMHO for those quick jobs where convenience/accessibility trumps max power. I purchased this a few months back and have recently been using it on a regular basis and how I went without it prior I'm not certain. This saw is great, it being compact allows you to take care of things typically a saw like this wouldn't come close to fitting into the area. The handle has a nice grip, the light on the front is amazing as it lights up what you are working on in low light conditions and overall this little saw takes care of business as I haven't run into something I wasn't able to take care of yet. Changing the blades is simple and easy and the front guard adjust as well, if you are on the fence about purchasing this item do yourself a favor and just pull the trigger you will not regret it that is for sure.
I originally purchased the DCS369B when I had a project where I needed to remove a large number of saplings that were growing up, around and through a chain link fence. It worked great allowing me one hand for grabbing a sapling while I used the other hand to hold the saw and quickly cut it off. I was able to complete the project in a fraction of the time that it would have taken me using manual loppers. The DCS369B is so versatile I find myself regularly using it on a variety of remodeling jobs, some where I wouldn't have been able to use my larger reciprocating saw. Although compact, this saw has plenty of power that is easily controllable with the variable-speed trigger. I definitely recommend that DeWalt DCS369B!
I bought this last year from a big box store. It's a BEAST! The wood cutting blades, resharpenable, that come with it are good. The metal cutting blade less so. The saw itself handles the job! I strongly recommend getting the 5.0 or the 6.0 battery. The 2.0 discharges too fast. With the 6.0, and a GOOD metal cutting blade, it gnaws through 4 x 4 x 3/8 mild steel angle so fast. 2 x 2 x 3/16 square tube, 1 inch round rod, all cut quickly. The blade holder could be better, but that happens seldom. If you have small diameter tree trimming that has to be one handed, and the idea of one handing a chainsaw is scary to you, here's your tool. Done both, and I far prefer this. Do I recommend? An enthusiastic yes.
I will start by saying that I am a full time commercial plumber in the state of Wisconsin, which means I have this saw with me probably 50 hours a week in hot, freezing cold, dirty, dusty, muddy, and every once and while even clean conditions. This saw has held up to the elements better than I had ever expected. If you are a plumber or if you know one, you will know that a saw like this is used more than your left hand on a job site. You might also know that most plumbers tend to have the version of this saw that is sold by the other red company whose name I don't think I need to mention. I can tell you from personal experience, between the two major companies offering a one handed sawzall like this, the better choice of the two is undoubtedly the Dewalt and here's ... MoreI will start by saying that I am a full time commercial plumber in the state of Wisconsin, which means I have this saw with me probably 50 hours a week in hot, freezing cold, dirty, dusty, muddy, and every once and while even clean conditions. You might also know that most plumbers tend to have the version of this saw that is sold by the other red company whose name I don't think I need to mention. I can tell you from personal experience, between the two major companies offering a one handed sawzall like this, the better choice of the two is undoubtedly the Dewalt and here's why. The Dewalt just plain cuts harder and cuts faster. I have raced guys at work using new blades cutting thorugh 4" pipe and my Dewalt wins every time. Secondly, The Dewalt has much better balance and can actually stand straight up on its battery, a feat that cannot be matched by its red competitor. The Dewalt also comes with an amazing belt hook, which makes my coworkers red with envy (almost matching the color of their tools). Lastly but absolutely most importantly, the Dewalt is a much lighter saw. I can tell you that I hang this saw from my toolbelt and walk around with it all day long without even noticing it there which is awesome, trust me. Speaking of walking around with it all day long, I typically pair this saw with a 5.0 battery which tends to last over a day of cutting and slanging pipe on a single charge. So no need to buy more than two packs in a commercial position and any other use you could easily have a single battery for this thing. I don't just use this thing to cut pipe either, I have powered through studs, nails, cast iron, tree branches, an electricians wire, and even used it to cut my steak once. Its time to stop doubting if this saw is right for you and just buy it, I can promise you will have no regrets
This saw packs a lot of power into a small package. It is very light (about the same weight as a large drill) and comfortable to use one-handed (holding your workpiece with the other hand) and can also be used two-handed for more stability like a traditional reciprocating saw. The grip and overall ergonomics are excellent. It comes with a rafter hook on the boot and a belt clip, so it can be easily hung up or stowed as needed. It even fits in my drill holster!Vibration is very well-controlled; with the boot pushed up against whatever you are cutting, it is practically non-existent. The boot glides smoothly along flat surfaces, making cutting a breeze. It is not retractable/extendable but does pivot. The LED is super bright and really helps to see what you are ... MoreThis saw packs a lot of power into a small package. It runs just fine on a 2Ah battery as well and is a bit lighter. The only disclaimer I would make is to have realistic expectations for a saw this small. It only has a 5/8" stroke so it will not make super fast cuts through large pieces of wood, but with some patience it will get the job done. Although it is a recip saw, I have found that the small stroke and variable speed trigger allow it to make some reasonably precise cuts. If you are in the 20V Max platform and looking for a recip saw for small to medium jobs, this one is hard to beat.
This one handed reciprocating saw is amazing. It is very useful for my day to day job as a plumber. I use it to cut pipe and it's the ultimate saw. It fits in tight spaces so I don't have to keep getting out my other pipe cutters. The led light helps me see in dark tight spots. If you are a plumber looking for a saw pick this one up you won't be disappointed!
