Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Kidney Care & Mobility Dry Cat Food 2.88kg
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition often associated with advanced age. According to recent data, 1 out of 3 cats will develop CKD in their lifetime. It is also common for senior cats to develop other age-related conditions such as reduced mobility or cognitive dysfunction, which can significantly impact the quality of life of both the cat and the pet parent. Degenerative joint disease (DJD) is a common condition in senior cats and causes pain and inflammation in a cat’s joints. Studies have shown that DJD is so common that 90% of cats over the age of 12 years suffer from DJD. Cats hide their pain very well; therefore, pet parents may not recognize the signs of joint disease. Some of these signs include being less active while awake or sleeping more than usual, behaviors which can be seen as normal considering the age of the cat. As cats grow older, they might suffer from cognitive dysfunction. The behavioral signs of cognitive dysfunction tend to become noticeable in cats that are 10 years of age or older. The signs include spatial disorientation, wandering away from home into unfamiliar territory, lack of interest in playing, excessive sleeping, altered cycles of sleep and wakefulness, long periods of staring blankly into space or at walls, indifference to food and water, urinating and defecating outside the litter box, and seemingly unprompted episodes of loud vocalizing, frequently in the middle of the night. Nutrition can play a key role in managing these age-related conditions. That is why Hill’s nutritionists and veterinarians developed Prescription Diet k/d +Mobility for cats. This clinical nutrition not only supports your cat's kidney function but also helps to improve mobility and increase cognitive alertness and vitality. In fact, the nutrition of k/d is clinically tested to improve & lengthen quality of life.

My cats love this stuff. They will only eat wet food with fish in it and get bored before the can is finished, but they will eat this day in/day out. They are both over fifteen with great health except for aging, and I attribute that to the nutrition in their food which we switched to when they were about 7 and 8. I feed this to my other adopted cat who is about 5, and his teeth are staying really clean, the vet tells me. I would not hesitate to start a young cat early on this.

I tried a lot of dried foods to fit my two shiba inu’ sensitive stomachs and this kibble has been the best to date!

My 15 year old cat has had renal disease for several years. She also has developed old age joint and mobility issues. I tried multiple glucosamine products, but she is very picky and would not touch the chews, powder or gels. Pilling her daily is not an option. I also tried Adequan but the injections made her ill. When k/d + mobility came out we gave it a try. My picky eater loves the taste and I noticed a difference in her gait and ability to jump up on things within a couple of weeks. Love, love, love this and recommend to all my clients whose cats need a kidney diet.
My old lady was on the j/d formula for a few years and was able to keep up with my 2 year old. When j/d was discontinued we switched to this even though she doesn't have kidney problems. She now struggles to get on the bed and is limping if she plays too long with the younger one. You lost a customer.
This food was recommended by our Vet as our cat seemed to have some joint pain and is getting on in years. I think there has been some improvement in our cat's mobility since she has been on it. In particular, she seems to be jumping up more (e.g. onto the top platform of her cat pole), whereas she was previously avoiding it. Our cat is fussy with her food, but she doesn't seem to mind this.
I'm sure this is a good quality food- when my cat was eating it she did appear to jump better and have improved mobility. Unfortunately, partway through the first bag she suddenly refused to eat it anymore. I replaced the bag, but that didn't do it. She doesn't like the canned varieties either, but she is begging for anything else to eat. Very frustrating. It is a very greasy food- when she took her food out of the dish to eat, it left grease stains on the ground. She used to like the regular dry k/d, but she's not so impressed with that now either.
What happened to the j/d formula. Both my cats benefited greatly from this formula. I am so disappointed that you do not make it anymore.
