My cat LOVES this pate. She's 13 with a heart condition and my vet recommended this as a low sodium food. She also has hyperthyroidism and sometimes getting her to eat is a bit of a struggle. She never turns her nose up at this wet food! She loves the texture and taste. Will be repurchasing.

I had tried another brand of prescription food for her kidney issues, and after the first can or two, just refused to eat that, as well.I tried this, hoping she would like it better....and she won't even touch it. I've tried giving it to her alone, mixed with some kibble, mixed with other wet foods...and I end up having to throw it away. Just to add, she's even on an appetite stimulant, and STILL won't eat this.Maybe your cat will like it more. What's unfortunate is that it's expensive, and unlike a "regular" food I could just give to my other cat....I can't do that with this food....so it's essentially useless to me. Cat does not like the new flavor

My cat does not like the new flavor of the k/d, she eats a little and then I use my finger to finish feeding her. The moist food is important because I put powder supplements in it for her kidney disease. I was putting the supplements in the old food and there were no isssues. My cat only likes a truly smooth pate.

Do not buy canned foods from Chewy!!
31 May 2024

My cat will eat this prescription food. Enough said. I would recommend the product itself, but Chewy has utterly failed to deliver it to my house. My VERY first order was shipped to my old address, even though I used my new address at check out. They said it was because my old address was defaulted. They sent me a replacement no problem, which was very considerate. When the replacement arrived, it was in shambles! It was packed horribly, with nothing but a bit of crumpled brown paper to cushion it in a large box (along with a small bag of dry food). One can was busted open leaking gravy, and literally every other can in the 24 pack was dented to some degree (about 3/4 severely dented). So they send me a REPLACEMENT REPLACEMENT! The person I spoke with on the phone said she would write a note to the shipping warehouse to add extra packing cushioning. It arrived today with no cushioning at all and dented cans. This food is expensive and I personally cannot afford to take the loss on a few cans each shipment. I will be canceling my autoship. Take my advice and do not order canned food, or any fragile items from Chewy.

Liked it at first, now my cat refuses to eat it
27 April 2024

The formula is probably very good for elder kidney care, but it only took a couple of months for my cat to refuse it. He still likes the Hills stew and dried kibble, but this? It sucks for him and ill have to throw away half a case. Wahhh! It was expensive.

My aged cat is eating this pricy prescription diet.
17 March 2024

These foods are expensive. Im just shutting my eyes and buying cause there aren’t any other options. All the prescription foods are pricy. The FOOD is being eaten by my cat. That’s the good part. Also, my cat is enjoying life now; rolling around in the catnip patch, taking walks with me. He must feel better. I suggest - if you can afford it - buying a microchip food feeder too. This keeps the dog and other cat out of the my elderly cat’s food and lets him go back throughout the day to feed. He’s been my buddy for 12 years (he’s 18) so this all matters to me. I actually invested in two feeders to keep my 11 year old cat from eating his elder’s food - and visa versa.

My life with Mindy
9 October 2024

After my husband passed away I was lonely and decided to get a dog. I went to the local shelter and found one. Something told me to see the cats. As I passed by Mindy in her cage she nodded at me. I nodded back and she nodded back. I knew she was for me and told them I would pick her up the next day. When I did I they told me she was lucky to have a forever home because she was scheduled to be euthanized that day. That was 13 years ago. Sad to say she has just been examined and she is terminal.

Senior cat newly diagnosed kidney disease
11 November 2021

My 15 year old cat Finn was recently diagnosed with moderate kidney disease. His vet put him on this prescription food to keep his quality of life good for his remaining years. Finn can be a little picky about his food, but surprisingly he had no problem switching to this can food. I will say this can food has a different texture to it than the Friskies can food he was eating before. This food is more sticky, like a pasty consistency. I have to add a little water to it so my cat can eat it easier. I also wish it came in more flavors besides just chicken. Hopefully my cat will not get tired of eating the same flavor for the rest of his days. Ordering this prescription food was very easy. Veery Expensive, Requires a Vet prescription, and Not the Best for a Dibetic Cat
21 June 2024

This was recommended by a Vet for one of our cats diagnosed as diabetic recently. However, the k/d diet is mainly for kidney care and weight management and, unfortunately, carbohydrates as prominent among its primary ingredients. This is not best for a diabetic cat. The k/d dry food is similarly rich in carbohydrates.

We tried it, but it's not for us.
9 April 2024

My cat loved the initial can I gave him that came in a starter pack, but after another few cans from this $75!!! tray, he barely touched it. 🥲 . I've thrown out countless cans. I have 6 cans left that I'll Crack open and feed to the dogs as a nice treat. They didn't seem to mind it. Wish there were options to buy packs of 12 or 6 or if it has to be 24, put in all 4 varieties....
