I started losing my hair 2.5 years ago when my ex and I split. 28 years together, so the stress and heartache were unbearable. I lost two-thirds of my hair! With my profession, I have to wear my hair up to work. My ponies, buns, and braids were embarrassing because you could see my scalp because my hair was so thin. I actually used to fill it in with eyeshadow and a blush brush to try to hide it. I also bought those products that you spray colored fibers in your hair, but what a mess. Especially in the 112 degree Texas heat, or rain, when it started to run. Ohhhh the embarrassment. Then I found Maui Moisture Bamboo Fiber Shampoo, after a recommendation from a YouTuber. This product has increased the appearance of the thickness of my hair!! I can’t say whether it has actually made it thicker, but it LOOKS thicker, which is better than thin, limp hair. The volume is amazing and the fragrance is divine. No seriously, it.is.divine. You just can’t beat it for around $8 a bottle too! I switch out shampoos because my hair gets bored with the same products, but this is always my go-to shampoo!!!

It has got very thick, creamy and lathering texture. Shampoo is very rich and cleans hair good, fragrance is quite strong but it’s not very overpowering. While washing hair, you can feel that it makes hair stronger and thicker. After washing hair is hard to untangle and hard to brush. I had very high expectations for this shampoo however it makes hair very dry in the middle strands and in the hair ends. Also my scalp became very sensitive and itchy since using this shampoo. I would not recommend and would not repurchase.

I bought both the and conditioner about three months ago. I used them for over a month (just as long as the bottle lasted) and I’m not that impressed. My hair is thin so I thought this would help at least strengthen my hair but it didn’t. I understand that it takes months to actually thicken and restore as it claims but it just wasn’t working for me. I have tried their other shampoos and I love those. This one would tangle my hair more than anything else, even after conditioning. I gave this a four star review because it did help clean and keep my hair from getting oily often. The smell is different but not bad. If you think you can wait it out then go for it.

I bought this shampoo a few month ago purely on the eco friendly side. I had to wash my hair every day otherwise it's greasy, horrible and thin so used to just buy whatever was on offer as I go through it quickly washing every day. After a few weeks (and now months) of using this shampoo and conditioner, my hair has completely changed for the better. It's twice as thick as it was, it isn't brittle or frizzy, it's healthy and has a new lease of life! I've tried every thickening shampoo/product there is and none of them have worked for me but this has been a complete game changer! 10/10!
I bought this because it said it was for 'fine hair in need of a lift' and promised volume. It has achieved the volume aspect, and i did notice my hair looking shinier and healthier at the roots, but otherwise this shampoo/ conditioner does not agree with me. Perhaps because my hair is highlighted blonde (ie. bleached/damaged). The blonde parts of my hair now feel dry and frizzy, after a few weeks of using this. I would steer clear if you have highlighted or bleached hair, but it's probably good for those with undyed fine hair who want some volume. Despite the frizziness my hair is soft and it smells really good too.
I've been working in the hair industry for about a decade and have tried many many shampoos, my favorite shampoo is about $100 for 33 floz of shampoo and conditioner and it is very moisturizing but it has keratin and protein so when I need a shampoo strictly for moisture when I have protein overload, I discovered this! I went through every brand at the store to find a sulfate free shampoo that was hydrating, low in chemicals, fragrances and silicones and something that actually cleans the scalp. It's winter so my hair can become very dry as I have more textured hair, It is a great shampoo to remove oils, buildup, product and pollution. It is also very light because the first ingredient is aloe. and it has a surfactant but so it does soap up a little bit but it is ... MoreI've been working in the hair industry for about a decade and have tried many many shampoos, my favorite shampoo is about $100 for 33 floz of shampoo and conditioner and it is very moisturizing but it has keratin and protein so when I need a shampoo strictly for moisture when I have protein overload, I discovered this! At its price tag, I really am so glad we found this because a little goes a long way. I do recommend finding another shampoo for some protein and keratin, but this is a good cleansing shampoo. I have tried other things from this line and did not like them as much as this but give it a shot!
The pictured ingredient list is inaccurate (or rather, outdated). My former bottles did not contain coconut oil, and my new one does. This appears to be a formula change. For some of you, this may be a great addition. Coconut oil makes me break out horribly, so it’s not a good choice for me. I was wondering why my skin has been absolutely horrid lately when it’s usually clear - and I have my answer. I also prefer my products to not have coconut oil in them because they coat the hair shaft and cause protein buildup. By coating the hair shaft, it is effectively blocking moisture from penetrating it. I’m not telling you what to do with your hair by any means, but if coconut oil breaks you out or if you don’t want to use it on your hair, skip this one.
I never ever write reviews but as I've graduated, I now naturally research around everything I do and purchase, and after experimenting I want individuals out there who like myself have been struggling with fine hair, and hair breakage to know about this product and how it has helped me. My hair type is Indian, naturally soft, long hair (23 inches), a combination of straight and slightly wavy, yet fine and weak hair, and has always accumulated oils after 4 days. I have also suffered from hair breakage and shedding which began 2 years ago (uni stress haha), especially when washing my hair I always noticed a huge chunk of my hair in the drain and continuous thinning hair which became concerning. For the appearance of fuller and thicker hair, I decided it would be a great idea to get sew in hair extensions a few months ago which was wonderful until I had them removed and they ended up causing my hair to fall out rapidly in larger chunks and further thinned out my hair!I've religiously stuck to one shampoo for so many years (L'oreal Elvive 5 Restore Shampoo), but it never really helped with the hair breakage, so I went on the hunt for a new shampoo every couple of months but after so many failed attempts I just gave up until I saw Maui Moisture shampoo in the store, after looking at the ingredients I thought I’d research around it before purchasing it. I ended up purchasing it predominantly because of its claim of thickening, but more so due to the ingredients in the shampoo: all natural ingredients, oil, plant, veg based which are known to promote hair growth, strengthen/restore hair, and add shine (castor oil, neem oil, coconut water, aloe vera juice, bamboo fibres) and there are a few more, but those were the main ones.PROS: After 2 months of use, this shampoo has resolved the issues I was experiencing, it has strengthened my strands from root to tip, enhanced shine and maintained the softness of my hair, but most importantly this shampoo has thickened my hair and reduced a tone of hair breakage. I hardly see any hair in the drain now! (Just a few strands) and my ponytail surprisingly feels thicker now even after I’ve straightened my hair than it did 2 months ago. It’s safe to say I no longer have a rat tail! My mum and aunty who have thick hair unlike myself actually noticed the change in my hair before I did just after one week of use, so that shows me how good this magic in a bottle is!CONS: One thing I have noticed is that my hair accumulates more oils, it definitely gets greasy much quicker, usually after 2-3 days. But it's something I can live with, the more oils your hair produces the better for your hair anyway, and I try not to wash my hair too much (2-3 times max per week), and go as long as I can without washing it unless I have to leave the house of course! (I know pretty gross but your hair will love you for it).Other things which help me: DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR EVERY DAY, which I used to do. If you wash your hair less, your hair will get used to it in time and will be healthier due to your natural oils nourishing your hair. Personally, I always use a non-oil based conditioner (prevents flat hair) on mid-lengths and ends and leave it in for as long as possible during my shower. I also use a lightweight oil (Argan oil) to sprits on the ends of my hair but only the smallest amount after a shower. I have always used a wide tooth comb and never comb my hair straight after I've washed it either, I wait until my hair has completely dried (limits hair breakage a lot)!!! I use heat on my hair 1-2 times a month and always use a heat protectant spray all over. I always trim my ends myself every 1-2 months as fine hair tends to be more prone to split ends than those who have thick hair (my mid-lengths and ends did thin out due to never cutting it causing split ends further up the hair). Regular trims give the appearance of thicker hair over time, trust me I’ve seen the transformation of my own hair.I truly hope this helps you guys! Give the shampoo a chance, it works for me and is now my regular shampoo! Have not tried the conditioner but will definitely look into it!
I am still on the fence. I bought the shampoo, conditioner and spray. It smells nice. I was disappointed that I could not get the matching deep conditioner, really wanted to try that. I just washed and conditioned and used the spray. I will see what happens after I diffuse. My hair is curly so second day hair is always better than day one. But as I said, it smells great.
This is the first time I have used this brands products and I have been using this shampoo and conditioner for 2 weeks now. My hair has never been such a tangled frizzy mess, I have to continuously brush my hair throughout the day to stop it from turning into a knotted mess it’s horrible, I have never had this problem before using this shampoo and conditioner. Only good thing I can say is my hair is soft once dry. Was looking forward to using this brand but I definitely won’t be purchasing again.
