Adequate fridge, not functional in practice

Both doors need to be open to access crisper in fridge, and shelf above water container needs to be removed in order to be able to refill water dispenser. Ive taken to having a jug in the fridge anyway, which nullifies having the dispenser. Also, when you open the fridge, it makes an alarm noise to let you know its been opened. (To remove this, hold both buttons for a few seconds until it makes a descending tune.) The fridge works fine, but given the option to buy again, Id go with the model without the dispenser. Its gimmicky and poorly executed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fridge is so amazing I wish I’d bought it earlier. I love the connectivity piece, the way my calendar syncs, I can see notifications on my fridge to tell me my washing and drying are complete, the kids have their spelling lists on the fridge along with a note about what they have on which day at school. I love the space, the way the shelf slides back to allow for tall bottles and the way I can use the drawer for wine, meat or deli by changing the setting on the display panel. Shopping lists sync’d, recipes at my fingertips and did I mention the space! Ample room in the massive freezer drawers. Love having filtered water on tap and the ice machine works seamlessly. Great Fridge with Poor Quality Control

Overall, we are quite happy with this Samsung 488L French Door fridge with water dispenser. But with a price tag of around $1600 (supposedly $1995 normal retail price), we were a little disappointed with a couple of flaws in the design and finish. If it weren't for The Good Guys sending Samsung technicians around to promptly repair it, I would have given it a 3 Star rating.Keep in mind, we are comparing this modern stainless steel finish fridge to our previous decades-old 395L Fisher and Paykel which we finally laid to rest! So any modern fridge would have been much better! It's definitely stylish and looks good for the design - but since our house is so old, it stands out obtrusively as the most modern appliance in the whole kitchen! At 488L, and minimal shelving, it's definitely quite roomy for our family with 3 grown kids. The water dispenser is simple, and slow as it relies on a gravity feed (non-plumbed - just refill water container mounted inside door), but with minimal mechanic parts, it's reassuring as there are less parts to break down or leak. The french door style freezer compartment makes accessing everything easy - you don't have to freeze your fingers digging through a freezer drawer to find something buried at the bottom! One design quirk though, is that you can open the left door on its own and pull out the left crisper tray, but for the right crisper tray, you can't pull open the right door on its own - you need to open both doors just to access it.There's a couple of features which seem more for marketing than for practicality, such as buttons to give the fridge or freezer a cooling boost - can't see ourselves using that at all. And a really useless sounding "Vacation Mode" which puts everything into very low power. Since you need to empty the fridge anyway, it doesn't seem to serve any purpose when you could just as easily unplug the fridge. Even the technician who came to repair a fault couldn't tell us what it was useful for. Then there's a cute little chime whenever you open the door, as if seeing the light come on wasn't enough to let people in the room know that the fridge door just got opened. It would be a lot more practical to chime once you close the door properly, although at least there's a gentle audio warning if you leave the door open too long. Oddly, that's not documented. The fault we experienced was a slight defect in the plastic molding inside the door. It didn't stop us from operating the fridge, but it seemed rather disappointing there was such an obvious visual flaw for a product with a close to $2k price tag. Then after we reported that, a part of the seal started tearing off and eventually we found it on the floor - all within a couple of weeks of use.The Samsung technician reassured us that the small flap on the seal which had torn off was common, and didn't prevent the fridge from operating normally, despite seeing a small gap leading to the interior. The new seal he replaced it with was poorly packaged and had a crease on the rubber flap in the same area. As for the defect in the plastic molding, parts weren't available so The Good Guys offered us a reasonable damage allowance which we accepted. We hope these small faults aren't an indication of how long the fridge will last. We may just have been unlucky so I would still recommend this fridge at the sale price.

Great fridge but lousy internal design
8 June 2022

The fridge is quiet, and keeps the food cold. Temperature setting appear correct, and the freezer does what it's supposed to. But before you buy this fridge, check what you want to put in it. The only place tall items can go is in the bottom of the doors, everything else you have to lay done on the shelves. Yes milk bottle and we all know how unreliable the lids are. I will hate this fridge till it gets replaced.

I would not change anything on this Fridge.
8 June 2022

I purchased this fridge in March 2022 and I am very happy with all aspects of this fridge. The autofill pitcher inside the door is great for getting filtered water. Automatic Ice maker has two sizes for ice block and is very quiet. The fridge temperature indicator is just inside the front of fridge door making it very easy to read. Also has plenty of room inside. The best of all is that the plumbed water filter is located INSIDE the fridge for easy access.

It works but is disappointing in areas.
4 January 2023

Overall everything seems to work more or less since we got it a month ago, and we are overall happy with it. A few niggles to consider... the fingerprint resistance is just a gimmick, its no better then the stainless fridges of the 90s. The ice tray is useless and just takes up space. The water container in the door is next to useless because it's so small, and it's hard to fill. the flap between the doors is a bit flimsy. Do Not try to open the left door using it, and it gets in the way of opening the right crisper. So I say this is form before function I that it looks good but is just ok as a fridge. I'm not unhappy with it but probably wouldn't buy it again.

Samsung Customer Service

I purchased a similar premium grade Samsung french door 2 drawer refrigerator in 2014 the fridge started icing up in 2018 which I have been told is due to a refrigerant leak, in 2021 both fridge & freezer failed completely ie started failing after 4 years. The Samsung premium service team kept me waiting for approx. 3 weeks after many calls due to disconnection dropouts when placed on a 3-5minute hold as they cannot answer a question without technical advise regardless of the question put to them. Then you are required to go through the entire process again and again, Samsung state they require your number in case of dropout, so they can call you back but they never do. Shelvings could be higher

i bought this product for my new place few months ago, finally able to open it last month. Upon opening it, realised that there were a few dents around the refrigerator. Unfortunately, samsung was not able to do anything about it as it was purchased few months ago. The design is simple, however, the shelvings are not high enough to stand a standard 1L soft drink upright in the middle of the fridge, need to also remove some shelvings on the side to fit it in. it is cold enough and really like the samsung sound

Smart Looking Fridge
16 August 2022

This fridge fits perfectly in our kitchen and is very stylish. The right side crisper drawer cannot be opened without both doors being open. A bit annoying. Water tank is not easy to fill as shelf above filling hole restricts the tilt angle. Otherwise very quiet and easy to use. Could do with another shelf and only has 6 egg hole positions.

Terrible design
19 December 2022

Hate the design Refilling the water dispenser is very awkward as there is a shelf above it, I ended up removing the shelf but the dispenser constantly drips anyway. There is a high pitch noise which is very irritating, and after a few days I finally worked out how to turn the beeping noise off when you open the door. Not much space to hold big bottles like 3L milk, had to drop the top shelf down quite a bit to fit sauce bottles, beverages and jars. You have to open both doors to get into one of the fruit drawers, the beam on the left door sometimes prevents the door from closing completely but the fridge won't alarm you. All the compartments in the freezer results in loss of space. Hoping to replace it with a new version of my previous Haier.
