Great for a quick on the go port but a dock or port with a cord USBC would be what I’d be looking for next. I’ve been able to power a 2T hard drive, ProSD card and iphone at the same time. For the price, this is a great port.

While the design does look quite nice, it has trouble staying connected to the computer because of the one attachment slot. Furthermore, the micro SD card slot is barely big enough for a micro sd card, does not read the sd card, and is such a tight fit it gets jammed leading to the risk of breaking on the sd card when struggling to get it out. Would not recommend to anyone who uses sd cards often. USB connection seems to be adequate.

I bought this about a month ago to use for work from home because the new HDMI ports on my MacBook Air are not compatible with my older peripherals. It worked one time. After that it overheated and will not work again. The design is good for a MacBook Air but obviously it is no good if it doesn't work.

I bought this product and every time I bump my computer with it attached (very slightly, accidentally even) my hard drive would disconnect (as anyone knows this can destroy your hard drive if it isn't ejected properly first). Also did the same with my power cord so I know that it wasn't my hard drives. Took it back thinking it was faulty and bought another one, however same thing happened. For some reason the wiring is just not right. I need this particular one for the memory card slot.
bought this for my daughters school device which has a protective case for good reason. This hub only fits if we remove the protective case. Now I need to get a short adapter as well.
I ordered a USB Hub and it reads my files but the physical piece is already falling apart... After only a couple of months. Fortunately, it still works but I don't know how much longer I will get out of it. Which is a shame because I was really liking this product! It does everything I need it to do! It is slim and I barely notice it on the side of my computer... Plus I can now plug in my SD cards! For such a good price I hope you can make them more durable in the future.
As a MacBook Pro 15” (2017) user, I needed a hub to utilize my external hard drives and SD cards. I opted for the smaller, non-pass-through hub as I did not require HDMI or DisplayPort support (I utilize USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 for external monitors) and I am quite happy to report that on the 15” the USB hub is compact enough to allow the use of the upper USB-C port on either side. This will allow the user to either charge the laptop or utilize an external monitor without cables attached to both sides of the laptop.Top quality product, I will be ordering MBP accessories from Satechi again.
Recently bought macbook pro and needed expansion ports for USB, etc.Found this product and ordered it after comparing to three others.Plugged it in and everything works very well. No complaints.The company shipped it promptly and kept me well informed throughout the process.I’d recommend thisnwithout reservation to anyone needed a similar solution to Apple’s shortsighted design....and no i dont work for satechi and wasn’t compensated for this review.
I bought this for my MacBook Air so I could plug sd cards and stuff in, but as soon as I plugged it in, it started REALLY overheating. Then for some reason, when I plugged an sd card in, it wouldn't show up on my computer. This product is pretty dodgy, it would only work 20% of the time, and was really frustrating to use. It's a shame because it was pretty pricey. Would not recommend.
I bought this thinking it would ease my editing process but it's really not a great design. It looks good, and sits well alongside your laptop but it isn't secure so it often falls out if you accidentally move your laptop or another device connected to it, particularly an external hard drive.
