I have been using this reel for over 5 years now. So, I have put this reel through its paces.I use this reel for anything from surf perch to yellowtail/tuna/Durado up to 35lbs. The drag is exceptionally smooth on big fish with plenty of power. I've taken it beach fishing many times and have never dropped it in the sand but the reel has stayed very clean internally through all of it's trips. I have only oiled it after every 10+ trips and it feels smoother than the day I bought it. A fantastic reel that I know for a fact will last my life.

This reel has a great retrieval with smooth drag and a great balanced weight. The best value around. The 3000 is a very versatile size allowing for an almost complete reel for all inshore fishing. I like combining this reel with a Star Stellar Lite Fast Taper 7'6" rod for a moderate price ranged killer combo. 10lb Power Pro!

Have owned numerous versions and sizes of the Stradic over the years and they all get fished hard. Always 100% dependable - from Florida to Alaska - 1000 series to 6000 series - never had any issues with any Stradic. Can't say that for similarly priced reels I have purchased from their competitors. This latest version very is very smooth when reeling and the drag is outstanding whether set light or heavy. Numerous 15 - 20 lb stripers without any issues with drag fade or surging. Strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good all around spinning reel. Load it with 20lb or 30lb braid plus an appropriate leader and you are ready for anything from flounder to freshwater reservoir stripers to big Canadian spring pike.

This is offset with the easily adjustable ultra smooth drag. Highly reccomended.
I use these for salmon, all kinds of salmon. I caught (and released) a 60 lb king in saltwater this season and the reel was fabulous. I spool with 200 yards of 30 lb Power Pro line and exclusively troll with a down rigger. I love trolling with spinning gear, it sits just right in the rod holders and people are never confused about which side goes up (or down). I catch hundreds of salmon per season on these reels, the only issue I ever had was the line roller seizing up (lack of maintenance).
As always, the Shimano Stradic series is quiet and smooth feeling. But the one thing that they do not tell you when purchasing online is that it does not any longer have a lever to release the spool for backing up when you are hung up on something. The only way to get slack line is to flop the bail over and lose total control of the line going out momentarily until you flip the bail again and turn the handle to tighten up. I find this deceiving on Shimano's and the selling dealers. A classic case of cheapening the product. This is like having a car with no reverse. It so far reliable as my other Stradics.
I am very satisfied with this reel and I love the operation. I have Haven't found anything it wont handle. My fishing partners have used it once and have already want to place an order for theirs. Cant go wrong here! I choose the 5000 reel instead of the narrow 4000 and after using it had to order a 4000 after trying my wifes 4000. Still the same awesome reel. Way to go Shimano, great product.
Very great reel at a great price! Ive been looking for a replacement reel and this has surpassed my expectations when fighting fish as big as 4ft long or larger with no problems at all! Its a beautiful sound to hear the spool run! Very happy with the purchase and amazing reel and hope they have better reels to come at cheaper prices! Thanks!
A very nice reel. A very fast reel so not perfect for all occasions. I bought this for a topwater reel which works great. I typically prefer the Shimano Stradic Ci4+. The Ci4+ reel is a lot slower which works great for a lot of applications. The Shimano Stradic FK works wonders if you do need a fast reel with 6.2:1 ratio. Smooth and solid along with being beautiful to look at. One fine reel that I am excited is now part of my BASS arsenal.
