Shimano Stradic fl Spinning Reel

$103.36

(748 reviews)

The Stradic reel from Shimano is certainly one of the brand's best-known spinning reels. It is sold all over the world with the same commercial success. Its name is associated with quality, robustness and reliability. In fact, even on our premises, it has been exceptional to see Stradic reels returning for after-sales service. This new Stradic FL model is based on the same principles and retains what has made its reputation, while continuing to incorporate the latest technology for even greater fishing pleasure and comfort. You'll be able to count on improved fluidity thanks to micromodule II technology and silent drive. The gears have also been improved with the Hagane concept and the frame has been fitted with X-Protect which makes it virtually watertight, making it easier to use at sea, especially as the drag is also watertight. The spool has been chosen with a large opening to give you ever greater casting distances. All these features give this reel a versatile profile that will suit the search for a wide range of predators, whether in freshwater or at sea. The variety of sizes and ratios will enable you to find the right model for everything from trout fishing to sea fishing with several dozen grams. Shimano has pulled out all the stops to successfully renew one of its flagship reels. The Stradic FL has become a real new spinning reel that you'll enjoy using. very good couple months with reel. smooth and lightweight. However this is the first reel I've had that ever froze. I did nothing different from the way I treat my Penn reel and it still got corrosion. cleaned after every use. never dunked in saltwater. I understand not a sealed reel but still this shouldn't happen and especially not in first couple months of ownership. fish mostly back bays saltwater. I haven't contacted manufacturer yet but I may just have it cleaned.

A real for all sizes of fish

This is the 2nd Stradic I own. I bought my first one about 10 years ago an liked it so much I bought a 2500HG and a 4000 HG. I've already caught multiple bass and trout on them and am very happy with everything from the smoothness of the bail for casting down to the sensitivity of the drag and how smooth the retrieve is. I don't like skipping fish on the water so I normally try to give the fish a bit of a fight; so I set my drag pretty low and let my real sing to me a bit but when I got them close just a quick turn and it held them in place. Fantastic real so far.

Kinda disappointed!

This is the 3rd Stratic I have purchased over the last 10 years. This one is silky smooth and the drag is excellent! I just wonder why they did not put an antireverse on the reel? Also, it is very difficult to trip the bail. The reel just stops when it gets to the trip position. Then you have to absolutely have to force it to close the bail.Overall, the reel is really solid. Although, with the reels made today I probably would not by one again!

So Disappointed
23 January 2022

recently lost my favorite Stradic 3000FJ and want to replace it so went to BP to check out the FL. What in the world is Shimano thinking? No reverse lever? Whoever made that decision must not fish. There are plenty of reasons to have a reverse lever so you don't have to open the bail or loosen the drag to take line out. Even worse, the angle of mounting arm that attaches to the rod is such that when you are holding it, it is very uncomfortable, almost as if it were intentionally designed to hurt you as it grinds against the bone of your finger that fits behind it. Guess you have to have small hands and mine are not that out of the ordinary in size. The Vanford is the same way.

The Shimano Stradic is one of the smoothest reels I have used. I’ve used this reel in some tough environments here in Western Pa., from harsh winters to humid hot summers. This reel holds up well. The 2500 and 3000 models are the ones that I prefer on wading rivers because of line capacity. The 1000 model is much lighter but the line capacity falls short on longer wades. Another thing about the 2500 and 3000 model is that the handle is bigger for cranking and in swift current it sure helps having that as you fight a 20 inch bronzeback. This is a mid-range reel that works better than the price. I own the first model that came out and still use it. This reel could last a lifetime, if cared for properly. Unbelievable Power for such a small package. Bigger is not better ....

I bought the Shimano ST4000XGFL Stradic FL Spinning Reel, thinking I was going to do some inshore fishing off Marathon, mostly inshore in a place we call our honey hole. This is a once a year trip for us, and I paired the 4000 with a Talavera inshore MH rod, with 30lb power pro metered braid. I'll be honest I didn't read the max-drag specs, but did after the trip. This baby performed out of this world. Yeah, the drag is going to sing , and it did on a shark ( I think Lemon), and the biggest porgy I ever saw. I learned a lot from my trip first week of May 2021. Bigger is not always better. The next day, we tried the hump, but on the way, we found a boat fuselage floating in the water, so chum chum chum chum. long story short, I caught 4 dolphin and a trigger on the 4000, and now I'm a believer in small Shimano packages. The shark video is cool, but can't upload here

What the guides use
1 October 2021

I've been a long time freshwater Shimano fan with numerous Shimano spinning reels over 5 decades. When I recently got a home near saltwater fishing opportunities, I started gathering info from various saltwater fishermen and guides on their preferred rods and reels for saltwater. Our favorite guide uses nothing but Shimano for every species and situation from inshore backwater trout and redfish to nearshore tarpon to offshore grouper and other species. This Shimano Stradic reel 3000 size is his light tackle rig setup. I'm gradually acquiring them too now for my dedicated saltwater tackle rigs for backwater. They cast great and are super smooth, reversible handles for right or left hand setup, and should withstand the saltwater environment.

I've had 2 of these reels for 15 years or so, they are 2500 reels mounted on St.Croix tournament and elite rods. The reels are great and so are the rods. The Tournament rod is 7 ft med light the Elite is 7 ft med. This med light is great the stradic reel is awesome, I strongly recommend this combnation, caught a 5 # bass on 4# line on it it performed flawlessly. I've caught many smaller bass using 1/16 oz mimic minnows on this lighter rod. I know this is. for the reel but this. rod/reel match i.e. great, neither would be as great if it wasn't for the great match.

Open Bail and you can still rotate the handle and spool assembly with bail still up.Bail assembly rotates and locks up without tripping bail as with 1000F, 2500 FA or 2500 FB spinning reelsThis will be the last Shimano spinning reel made in Malaysia that I will buy.Had to shim all shimano reels due to loose handles.Had to grease and oil this reel Shimano Stradic 1000hgfl, Shimano Stradic C14 1000F, Shimano Stradic C14+ 2500FA, Shimano Stradic C14+ 3000FA, Shimano Stradic C14+ 2500FB and Shimano Symetre 3000FI. due to lack of proper servicing from factory. It is high time Shimano takes responsibllity and avoid outsourcing their Stradic Reels

Web order 1213181Ordered shimano stradic 2500 hgfl on 16 may 2022 and received 19 may 2022. Great service from TackleDirect. However this reel had a different problem from the shimano stradic 1000 hgfl I reviewed before. This 2500 FL reel made a bearing noise. It had no grease on drive gear at all. The pinion gear had grease on very bottom next to where bottom bearing is located . Also had a huge amount of grease below the pinion gear on the main shaft assembly. Removed the grease from the pinion gear and properly greased the pinion gear and drive gear. Bearing sound greatly reduced. Handle has small amount of play not present in 1000 hgfl reel with only a slight grinding noise on top pinion gear bearing.
