This is our 4th Petsafe Safewell Al dog door. We had 2 in our previous house ( external and internal) and we have one externally on our current house and have decided to put another externally on a different door.This one has the best reviews out of all the pet doors on the market. We have owned 5 big german shepherds and 3 big labradors and it was great for them to come and go as they please. Also if we decided to lock them outside if they were wet & muddy we just put the cover on them.,These doors are strong, well made and have never had a problem with them in 20 years.

This pet door is easy to install and easy for your doggies to use. The template makes it easy to position and you can just cut the hole in situ. Fit the nested pieces either side and screw it in. Job done.Your dog can tell youre on the other side thru the translucent flap. They'll quickly get the hang of poking their head thru, and when they enter the magnetic catches close the flap behind them. No more scratching the paint off the door.

It was perfect. Weve always had a dog flap, but on off since we acquired our rather long bodied and long tailed Cocker Spaniel, she often caught her tail between the frame of the flap and the plastic surround which comes down with the flap as the dogs goes through. After the last more serious time of catching, we realised we had to see if there were any other designs out there. This Staywell one from Pet Planet, was the only one we found which had just the flap only to get through, so nothing else to follow and catch her tail. Life is much more relaxed now as we are no longer worrying about the damage she might cause herself by going in and out.

This new Petsafe door is a shoddy product. The plastic insert used to shut up the opening doesn't work. My terrier had head butted his way through from the garden to the inside in under 5 minutes.
One of my "best five" of the year, the more so since the cold weather has set in. Really neat and good-looking dogflap to which my 9-month Springer has quickly adapted. Magnetic closure is excellent and means the whole in/out/in/out cycle is free from noisy rattling as the flap "clicks" shut. My initial concern was that it looked too narrow but dog quickly demonstrated there was more than enough room for her to get through even with a stolen boot in her mouth. Only downside is that I can't pin her in a corner when she steals something because she's off through the flap into the garden and the game of chase begins! Definitely recommend.
Best option on the market for strength, fittings, ease of use for pets, aesthetics and weather proof facility. Just replaced one that's been in constant use in external door in full exposure to weather after 15yrs. Very pleased with this.
I bought this to replace my old plastic dog door which had gone brittle and had broken. This aluminium one is much stronger and the flexible flap is a better design. It is a slightly different size to the plastic one but it was easy to modify the hole with some plywood. All in all it took me about an hour and a half to fit. In use it is quieter than the old one and the panel for shutting the dog door is a better fit and easier to use than the old one. My dog, who can be a funny old thing, got used to it really quickly.
I am not sure how the flap itself will hold up over years of use - it is not a perfect seal because it is flexible. But it is better than our old one. The small size just fits our Jack Russell - she has to shimmy a little but that's fine, and nothing else is going to use it. The option to shut it completely off at night works for us, and no more hassle than a lock fitted to the flap itself which we used to have. Pretty good.
We have 4 dogs. As you can imagine we have to open the doors constantly for them to go in and out. My husband had a light bulb moment, resulting in the dog flap. It's made a huge difference to the temperature in the lounge. We had no idea how much heat we were losing. Always turning the heating on or up. Not any more . As for teaching old dogs new tricks, we made it into a game. Now they go in and out, at will. They seem to like the fact they can nip out whenever they fancy. My husband fitted the flap.
