Pin nailer works great, but will occasionally lock up. Not because of pins, but because of some electrical problem. The lights will flash and it will not respond to trigger pulls. Nothing online about what causes the problem other than electrical, but if you leave it alone for a few minutes it will work again. Very frustrating when trying to get work done.

I purchased this nail gun on 11/29/2023. It died 3/15/2024, just after the return for refund period. Customer service said that I would have to send it in for repair. I will put it in the trash instead. I also purchased another Dewalt framing nail gun that was broken when I opened the box, I returned that one a week after I bought it for a full refund.

Great for job site. But pretty bulky for shop
21 June 2022

There is a lot to like about this new 23-gauge pinner from DeWalt. No more dragging out the compressor and air lines from the truck. The battery-operated nature of this pinner is so much easier at the job site. I found that pins load easily into the magazine and a single 2Ah battery will fire pins for hours. It has a decent range of pin lengths it supports….5/8 to 1 1/2 inches. The flywheel ramps up quickly and fires as fast as you can reposition the tool. But that’s where the party ends. This pinner is big and bulky. It’s about twice as heavy as my Grex air powered pinner and 50 percent bigger (see pictures). This tool is part of DeWalt’s atomic lineup. The atomic tools are smaller and more compact. Not so for this pinner. One great thing about a typical pinner is ... MoreThere is a lot to like about this new 23-gauge pinner from DeWalt. Not so for this pinner. One great thing about a typical pinner is the ability to sneak it in small spaces. This DeWalt handles more like a heavy finish nailer. The DeWalt has an LED that my Grex doesn’t. But for some reason they put the LED on the back of the pinner. Strange. It doesn’t do a great job lighting up the work surface. Also, this pinner is expensive. $300 with just one battery. So for shop work the old air powered gun works better. I give this first generation DeWalt Pinner a C+ grade. I’m sure the cost will come down with time. And they will figure out how to make it smaller and lighter. Then it will compete with a traditional pinner.

Great pin nailer
15 June 2022

I am very happy with this Dewalt 23 gauge pin nailer. I comes with a 2.0 amp hour battery a charger and a carry bag. Pin nailers are not usually used for long period of time. Unless of course that's all you do is fine small trim work then maybe you might use on all day. It shoots anywhere from 5/8 to 1 1/2 inch nails. Weighs in at 4 pounds. Has an led light to light up the work piece. If it were to jam on you just pop open the Jam release on top without the use of a tool, clear it and lock it back down. There is also a depth adjustment on top as well. When you run out of nails a light on the side of the gun comes on. Approximately 2000 nails per charge. Great gun I really like it.

Horrible experience with nail gun and c/s!
15 March 2024

This nail gun failed just after the 90 day refund ended. I bought it 11/29/2023 and it failed 3/15/2024! Dewalt wants me to send it in for service. It is cheaper for me to toss the nail gun in the trash (where it belongs) and buy something from another brand. What happened to the quality that I expect from Stanley and Dewalt? They both were good companies, but now if I ask around nobody wants to buy Dewalt. I will switch to another brand as my older Dewalt tools expire.

Huge upgrade from Green brand
14 December 2023

I’ve had a green brand Brad and pin nailer for quite some time. Recently upgraded to the dewalt cordless pin nailer, and what a difference. Right out of the box, I had to do no adjustments - have not had a pin fail to fire or a single jam. The ergonomics are much better and feels great in the hand. I’m a hobbyist woodworker and use this tool a lot. After 2 months with the product, I can confidently recommend this to anyone in the market, or that wants to step up to a cordless from an air hose

Repeat Jamming, not worth the trouble
15 December 2023

I have virtually all the 20V and some 60V Dewalt tools including the cordless 20V 18guage brad nailer and a stapler. This pin nailer was great for the first few projects but it now has insufferable jamming. My buddy bought the same one and had the same problem. I bought it on March 9, 2023 and frankly I can no longer use it so have gone back to my pneumatic nailer. I see this is a recurrent problem. Yes, I'm using the Dewalt pins. I can't imagine using this tool as a contractor.

The long awaited and anticipated gun has FINALLY ARRIVED!

I am the owner of Quality Craftsmen LLC General Contractor but a Carpenter by trade 27yrs. I have every battery op gun they've ever made including the 18ga floor stapler to the roofing gun and everyone in between. I have been waiting for this gun for what seems like yrs now ever since i saw the prototype picture of it. I contacted Dewalt in August of 21 and they said early 22 for the release, so every day, every week, and every month I would check every home depot to see if they were out yet and on the shelves but of course nothing. Until i went into the Belair, MD location and saw a display but nothing to buy, so i asked the clerk to look at every store in a 50 mile ratios and still nothing, so i looked on the app and sure enough 36 available for delivery to my ... MoreI am the owner of Quality Craftsmen LLC General Contractor but a Carpenter by trade 27yrs. Bam mine and my teams wait was over! And let me tell you I was super super close to buying the Milwaukee pin nailer but all my Milwaukee tools are the big 18v batteries and their pin nailer takes the 12v battery so id have to buy all new batteries just for one tool, so all and all im very happy i held out and the gun is exactly what we and I expected! Thx Dewalt! Can't wait for whatever new tool you comeout with next for the flex volt or 20v. Belt sander would be nice hint hint!

Very good with one major flaw.
7 September 2023

Love this tool for the most part except for one major issue. It stops firing when there’s only a certain amount of nails left…no big deal. But, when I put in a new strip of nails, the force of the feeder spring and the pressure from the ‘you’re out of nails’ detector pushes the new strip of nails up and over the remaining nails of the original strip causing jams. I found it’s just easier to throw away the 10-12 remaining nails on the old strip and just start a new strip, but it’s a waste.
