Sea to Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Mat - Regular
The Comfort Plus Insulated Air Sleeping Mat earned a 2015 Backpacker Editors' Choice award for its innovative Air Sprung Cell technology and dual layer comfort. With two separate layers of interlocking air chambers and our multi-function valve, you can fine-tune the top layer to perfection as well as adjust the base layer to accommodate for rough terrain. So, if one side of the pad punctures, the other remains functional until a repair is made. Features 4.0 R-Value is warm enough for all but the coldest ground. Exkin Platinum insulation reflects radiant heat while Thermolite insulation prevents convective heat loss. The dual-chamber design means there's no top-to-bottom air movement, which reduces warmth transfer from the upper to the lower side Dual-Layer Air Sprung Cells provide more support, insulation and excellent comfort. Quick and easy inflation, deflation and adjustment is made possible by our multi-function valve and supplied Airstream Pump /stuff sack. Tough 30D/40D face fabric and Sea to Summit’s liquid-extruded lamination is quiet, durable and extremely reliable. Anti-microbial treatment added to the TPU lamination formula prevents internal mold growth. PillowLock system prevents your Sea to Summit Aeros Pillow from slipping. Comes with a stuff sack which doubles as a pump, a repair kit with six self-adhesive patches and a spare valve insert. Airstream Pump/Stuff Sack can be used to inflate Aeros Pillows – turn the inflator bag inside out; the nozzle will fit the mini pillow valve.

I bought this sleeping mat for the first time in 2016. I was stationed in Alaska as an Airborne Infantryman in the United States Army. This sleeping pad endured for 3 years in that environment. It held up in 40+ Airborne exercises in extreme cold temperatures for weeks at a time and a deployment to Afghanistan. Sleeping on it was something I always looked forward too. It continued to serve me well leading into 2022 when I finally passed it on to a friend and bought me a new one. The new one served me well in the swamps of Louisiana and the blistering heat of Eastern North Carolina while on active duty and even now, as a civilian, it is still going strong. Treated with respect, I imagine this pad will last the average person the better part of a decade. I have never ... MoreI bought this sleeping mat for the first time in 2016. I have never had one fail in any way, but if it does and you forgot your included patch kit, it is compartmentalized, so the opposite half will retain air. To this day, I use it for camping and I keep it deployed full-time in a spare bedroom where I still sleep on it occasionally. It is very comfortable and effective. I highly recommend this product.

This thing is not small when rolled-up, and not light, so don't plan for it to be your backpacking pad. But it is verrrrry comfortable. If you're mostly car camping or have a second pad for backpacking then I highly recommend it. Both sides of the pad inflate making the total thickness better than any pad I've had before. And Sea to Summit's inflating bag makes it easy to inflate--about 1.5 bags-full for each side. The only reason for four stars instead of five is the rolled-up size and total weight.

Used this for the first time on a beach-camping weekend. It is extremely easy to inflate using the airbag that is super-conveniently incorporated into the stuff sack. Sleeping on my back, I was completely off the ground. A bit of contact on hips and shoulders when side-sleeping, but better than my previous pad and still quite comfortable. The temperatures were fairly warm (around 60F), so not a challenging test, but I did not feel any loss of body heat through the ground. It deflates quickly and is easily packed back into its sack. Light and small. I am very happy with it.

I used to think I'd never get a good night's sleep in the backcountry. The Comfort Plus Insulated Air mat has changed that! The dual-layer system lets me customize a softer sleeping surface while keeping the bottom layer fully inflated to protect from hard ground. And I love that it provides redundancy in case of puncture, though I've been using it for years and have never worried about its durability. The only drawbacks are weight and packed size, but it's still my go-to pad for most trips because sleeping well and comfortably makes everything else better, too!
Whoowho. My new Sea To Summit Comfort Plus insulated mat arrived, all carefully packaged by Snowy's less than an hour ago. So easy to inflate with the bag system. Very comfy for side and tummy sleeping. Would have loved a rectangular one for room for my arms outside the sleeping bag, but weight and pack size determined my choice. Very comfortable and fit for purpose. Seems a high quality product. Will test it in the field, camping in Central Australia in August. About the same pack size as my old 1980s Thermarest Ultraliite 3/4, but considerably lighter and longer. I now want an ultralight one for extended hikes in good weather, as well as my fly in fly out camping that this will be part of. Yes every gram truly does count! Loving it so far. I bought this pad in the summer of 2022. I used it for a a September backpacking trip in PA (IYKYK, the weather can fluctuate a lot in the fall!), and used it with a just a liner. I sleep warm and on my side and it did very well in terms of comfort and temp as it was a mild night. I used it again in November 2022 and March of 2023 where the nighttime temps were in the high 20s and was very warm. I am 6’1” 155lbs and chose the larger size and would do it again in a heartbeat. Love how it is compartmentalized to dial in the right level of comfort, very packable, and easy to inflate with the stuff sack/pump sack combo. The only “downside” (very, very minuscule) is that it’s a bit on the loud side when moving around/adjusting on the tent floor, but I should mention I ... MoreI bought this pad in the summer of 2022. It didn’t bother me but I figured I would bring it up since my girlfriend said she could hear it in her tent. Overall, highly recommend!
The sleeping pad is solid, and comfortable.GOODS:I've used it only on a 2 day hike so far, but the night low temps of ~40F allowed me to have an idea of the insulating properties of the pad. It was good, I wasn't cold. The inflation system is very nice, and the two valves with perpendicular positioning are great, fast to open, precise to adjust, and out of sight when sleeping. Overall, GREAT!Regarding the comfort, the pad I have is a wide + long and the 25in width make a significant difference in comfort levels, much better than 21in pads. I also could sleep on the side and the stomach without ever touching the ground. (I'm not super heavy though, 5.10ft, 165lbs). I could have taken the 'regular' but it is unfortunately not available in wide (25in); only ... I could have taken the 'regular' but it is unfortunately not available in wide (25in); only 21in.BADS:This is also the reason why I'm taking a star off: The pad is unnecessarily long, like way too long (about 1/2 ft longer than other 'long' pads) which can be nice for particularly tall guys, but in my case added a little more bulk than I wish to carry. It is regrettable tat Sea-to-summit doesn't have a reg+wide for that one. Finally, S2S made the choice to keep the stuff sac very small to keep the pad rolled tight. But this make it actually hard to stuff it back inside, when packing up. (And I suspect that it may be bad for the pad to stay tightly rolled while in storage, and would recommend taking it out at home)
My wife and I purchased these sleeping pads in 2015 to use for backpacking, but we have found them so comfortable that we use them for car camping too. They are easy/quick to inflate and deflate, roll up easy and take up little room in a car or backpack. As for comfort, I've read reviews saying they aren't so hot for side sleepers. My wife and I both find them very comfortable--but I'd note that our sleep mattress at home is rated extra firm. When the temps dip down into the 30s or below, we also use a closed cell foam pad under the Sea-to-Summit pads. As I noted, these are now the pads we use whenever we camp, and we've had no failures over the 7 years we've used them. We think they are great and will keep on enjoying their comfort and ease of use.
After many uncomfortable nights on my Big Agnes Q-Core Deluxe, I finally decided to look for another option. Research led me to this pad which seemed constantly rated as the most comfortable backpacking pad available.I have to agree that after only 2 nights I slept far better than all of my previous 1.5 years of camping with the Big Agnes Pad.As a mainly stomach sleeper, the air coil system works extremely well, I LOVE the dual zone adjustability (I kept the top layer soft and the bottom firm). Weight distribution was great for side sleeping and I didn't keep waking up with painful numb shoulders like I had before.Plus with the stuff sack inflation, it takes under a minute to fully inflate (Big Agnes Q-Core took around 4-5 minutes).HIGHLY recommend and I am so ... First off, I love my Comfort plus. As a side sleeper it’s always difficult to find a comfortable sleeping pad. I tend to camp in cold weather and during the last cold camp it got down to 16°f. My toes were cold in my 0° sleeping bag but that was it. I’d say my biggest complaint is that it skids around on my silpoly tent floor. I wish they still made the Comfort Plus in a rectangular model. The weight difference wasn’t that dramatic and I could keep my feet off the ground. All in all, a great pad for packed size, R value and comfort.
