In November 2021 he was also diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. My one time 20 pound ball of fluff, withered away to just 4.4 lbs. I'm genuinely not sure if this food helped him or not. Would he have lost weight faster if not for this supplement? I honestly can't answer that. But this food is EXPENSIVE, (about $3 for one small can), and is only available by prescription. My kitty did get picky with his treats and canned food over the last year or two, but he was always willing to eat [brand:hills-science-diet]. My cat Sammy was having problems throwing up a lot, so the vet recommended this. I didn't want to get it, but I humored them and got one can from them anyway. Didn't use this until after he was already better, so I didn't need this food. I was sketchy of the ingredients- which I should be. There's nothing outstandingly bad about this except for rice- which is really bad for cats. Only 2% of a cat's natural diet is carbohydrates, and too much is what contributes to obesity and diabetes in cats (though namely dry food).

NOTE: This is for the dry kibble - Influenster only listed the canned formula which the cats have eaten only occasionally. Two of our cats have problems with their urinary tracts becoming blocked. This can quickly become an emergency and potentially fatal if they don't receive veterinary care quickly. This food hasn't completely eliminated the problem; unfortunately some cats have a predisposition to this. But it has greatly decreased the number of episodes they experience and all but one eagerly eat this (this little guy has tummy problems so feeding him anything can be difficult). The other cats eat this too, which is great because trying to feed multiple cats different foods/keeping them out of each other's food can be super difficult. Especially if you have "grazers" who want the food bowls full all. the. time. TLDR, I recommend this for cats who have urinary tract issues. Might not completely cure the problem in every case but it definitely does help.

Additional review on product ingredient
12 December 2022

Heads up pet parents! My elderly cat is now refusing and hiding when we present food. Used a small portion for supplementation but ingredient change makes a HUGE difference! Taste, watery, etc. Want people to know it is not your pet if refusal… is poor product change! So sad. Was such a great product before!

Can size is way too big
22 March 2023

For cats that can benefit from this mix, the can size is way too big. Once the can is opened, it spoils quickly. Refrigerating doesn't help as they will not eat it after. No ailing or elderly cat will consume 5oz in a sitting, so 3/4-2/3rds of each can is wasted. Does it help ? Possibly, but this product is way too expensive to throw away that much of each can. Please make a smaller portion.

Excellent Wet Cat Food
9 December 2022

My vet put our cat on this prescription food because he was not eating, vomiting when he did, and had diarrhea. He liked it right from the start, especially with the probiotics that our vet gave me to sprinkled on top. His appetite is better than ever, and he has gained back the weight he lost when he was not eating. His fur also looks so much better and is so much softer now. We would definitely recommend this cat food.

Saved my sweet cat after dental surgery
12 March 2022

I have a cat recovering from dental surgery. Sadly one of her precious teeth had to be removed and vet said it was harder than expected. I have given my cat the food filling it in a syringe (without needle obviously) and holding it in front of her mouth and gently smearing a bit of it on her lips to stimulate her appetite. She would then lick it while I keep pushing the food through the syringe. Eating from bowl was just too hard. Even with pain killers I could see she was very upset on first and second day. I Bought the food following nurse recommendation who usually grooms my cats (not related to vet). Was desperate because she was not eating the second day after surgery (only small amounts) and vet's recommendation was not helpful (boiled shredded chicken, she did not even want to smell it). I must add that my cat is a rescue and was used to a dry food diet only when I took her home. She is still very challenging with food and would only accept raw food if I feed her per hand. After the operation she was terrified and on edge for 24 hours and it has been the most challenging time for me as a pet owner. Today she has eaten a total of 320 g of your special food and while still not a fan of wet food in general I can see she is finally becoming normal again. So a great thank you for developing this special food. In my opinion vet's advice for pet owners after surgery (in particular dental) should include more specific advice about professional and appropriate food for the animal (be that cat or dog)

Senior cat gained a pound
20 August 2022

After a physical last year, the vet prescribed canned and dry kibble m/d for my cat to lose a few pounds. She weighed 14 lbs then and now weighs an additional lb after 9 months. She may have a different metabolism or other health conditions, but the vet recently saw her again and suggested continuing this diet. I'm considering a second opinion for both her weight issue and the m/d diet.

This food is exceptional
20 November 2020

My cat Walter has chronic kidney disease in the last stages, and is not eating enough by himself, least of all kidney food. We tried to tempt him with all kinds of other cat food too, but he kept losing weight. Then I discovered a/d, and he liked it! What a relief. He is still not eating much by himself, but now he will lick 10-15 ml in one session from my finger, after being encouraged by a dab of it on his lips. I dilute it with just enough water so I can draw it into a food syringe and put pea sized drops on my finger, otherwise half of it will end up in the towel. The texture is fine and creamy, but holds together well. Walter eats half a can a day in addition to his "rewards" (chicken and salmon wet food that he receives after each sub-q and oral medication) ... MoreMy cat Walter has chronic kidney disease in the last stages, and is not eating enough by himself, least of all kidney food. I know that his illness is terminal, but I believe that this food is giving him some more days in the sunshine. One day his kidneys will fail, but at least he will not die of starvation. If only I had known a/d six years ago when I lost my cat Paul to CKD after just a few months of illness. He might have lived longer too. The smell of this food is not appetizing to me, but obviously delicious to my cat, and that is what counts!
