So anyone here is looking at getting a Kidney Care diet for their precious kitty who may be having Kidney issues. This food is amazing! I used this food with the "Hills Prescription Diet" hard food (because they stated it can be combined with any other Kidney Care product). My cat absolutely loves the way it tastes and smells; he always would try to go to my other cats bowl to eat her food but whenever the K.C. Tuna comes out, he will not budge or even glance up to even think about her dish (she doesn't have the special care diet bc she doesn't need it). The cans are small, but really, there's a LOT of food in it, and the tuna is AUTHENTIC. I've never seen such better quality wet cat food. I thought we were going to go through these cans quick, but my goodness it's ... MoreSo anyone here is looking at getting a Kidney Care diet for their precious kitty who may be having Kidney issues. The cans are small, but really, there's a LOT of food in it, and the tuna is AUTHENTIC. I've never seen such better quality wet cat food. I thought we were going to go through these cans quick, but my goodness it's not been horribly as fast as I thought (get the 24 pack, it's worth it more than just a few cans). The Tuna is DEFINITELY more packed than the Morsel, and my cat seems to enjoy it better. We give him a half can of this wet food mixed with a quarter of a cup of dry food (the Hills dry kibble are BIG pieces); this brings me to the next topic. My cat seems to feel a LOT more FULL on this diet. He used to eat like a pig (even though we regulated his food), but now sometimes he'll even leave pieces behind - and it's not because of his kidney issue! He is just genuinely fuller. Now, onto the noticeable progress. We had "Pretty Litter" for our kitty, which is a 'health tracking litter.' We found out he had a kidney issue thanks to that (after taking the other cat in and finding out it wasn't her, we took him in and sure enough). The litter would be a STRONG BLUE which signified a real issue, but since he's started this diet, the color has lightened up a bit. He still needs official medications, but this is helping hold things together while we move to a new location. He also used to drink water ALL THE TIME. Anytime you were in the kitchen, he'd drink up. He'd drink it over ten times a day, for a few minutes at a time. I read that because of the kidney issue, sometimes cats will drink much more water to try and replace the water that was lost. It was really bad, but now he doesn't drink as much water either since we've started this treatment. He also doesn't need to go to the bathroom as much either! It's even helped his coat become so much softer and healthier! He had this "skin issue" where anytime you would pet his back, he would bite his legs. Our previous vets always told us it was a "skin issue" and gave us various back medications for him which never worked. But a WEEK into eating this food, we were able to pet his back with no biting and he loved it so much! I was honestly annoyed with our previous vets for never considering that it was probably his diet causing that issue. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODCUT FOR YOUR KITTY!!! THERE ARE VISIBLE AND PHYSICAL BENEFITS!!

I was never prepared for the day my beloved pet would become severely ill. Chewy helped me to get everything I needed. They gave me so much emotional support. I ended up losing my baby. I hurt so badly. Chewy had sent a little gift to my boy when he initially got sick and needed a prescription diet. It meant so much to me. Now, I lost my baby. I called Chewy and tearfully told them to stop sending the prescription diet because he was gone. Flowers arrived this morning from Chewy. Who are you to be so compassionate. I wish you could teach the world to be kind like your company. Thank You! Thank You so much!

In addition to having my elderly cat go on both KD hard and soft cake food it was important to have soft food that I could grind a quarter pill for his heart. The prior soft “Canin” brand he wouldn’t eat it all and difficult to determine if he was grill is meds. Well Science Diet saved the day and no question as to whether or not Dexter is hernia meds. He scarfs that can food down nearly as fast as I can serve it. Already I’m planning on ordering another case.

Our Max has renal disease; his brother Meka doesn’t. When we first tried renal food about a year ago, they both looked at it, sniffed it, and walked away. Hills K/D has provided a completely different experience. The first day I put it in front of them, they both dug in! Both boys love this food, and my husband and I are thrilled. Max’s renal disease has improved since last year, and we’re over the moon! We love our boys and this healthful food that they’re eating.
I’m disappointed because Kidney Care Tuna and Vegetable Stew contains chicken and the label does not list chicken. I had to peel back the label and use a magnifier to read the tiny print of ingredients to see it contained chicken. My cat is allergic to chicken but needs the special diet for kidney failure. I guess I have no choice but to give her the food and watch her scratch rather than stress her kidneys and shorten her life.
I have had much trouble getting my kitty to start eating renal food. She likes lots of gravy and is very picky. But I finally tried the prescription Hill Science Diet wet stew and tuna and chicken. She seems to really like them both. My complaint is that they come in cans that are too large and she will not eat cans that have already been opened and refrigerated. So this is very wasteful and expensive. Anybody has ideas about that I'd appreciate it
My cat is 16 years old and after his last vet visit 3 weeks ago my vet recommended to start him on a prescription kidney food for his worsening chronic kidney disease. My cat has kidney disease and was on death's door. I found this food about 8 months ago and he we bananas for it. He put on weight, had increased energy, and his labs came back without an major changes.I'm so sad that they changed the formula. He hasn't been eating the new food and is yelling his head off at crazy hours.I'm worried he's going to regress. Is there a way to purchase the old formula??
I'm actually astonished the first time I fed this to my cat. My cat is a long-time Fancy Feast addict. Lately trying to change his diet to manage his recent kidney disease has been tough. We got many many cans of different prescription brands to try out and even non-prescription food that are lower in phosphorus. He hated them all. I did not have high hopes for this but he liked the Hill's K/D dry food so I thought I would bite the bullet and splurge on a case of this. He fervently ate the entire can. He doesn't even eat an entire can of Fancy feast with this much gusto. This is the first Hill's K/D wet food we have tried, so I will also test out other flavors but for now I'm happy we are able to feed him something that will help with his ongoing health issues.
Our 16yr old kitty was diagnosed with early stage kidney disease. Our vet prescribed this wet food to supplement her k/d dry food. She loves it- we feed her about 1/2 can a day. At her most recent checkup the vet was pleased her disease hadn't progressed much. Great supplement to keep our little princess with us longer!
