FURminator Deshedding Tool For Dogs, Medium / Short Hair

It didn't help remove his hair at all. And this boy sheds A LOT! for a little chihuahua. I was really surprised that each stroke returned literally 3 hairs in the brush head. It was disappointing, especially considering the steep cost. His undercoat is not the thickest. Perhaps it works better with a thicker undercoat? But I figured with how much his top coat sheds, it should still help. I was mistaken.

I brought my dog to my neighbors house recently and she recommended this and even let me try hers out on my girl. I have a beagle-border collie mix and her hair is about an inch or so when I trim her. It works so well, she’s got this crazy undercoat that just never ends no matter how often I brush her with regular plastic bristle brushes. Furminator products are a staple in my home. They are so durable and long-lasting, I have one that I have been using for probably 8+ years. This large size for shirt coats works amazing on my Pitbull. She loves that the bristles are short enough they don’t dig in to hard to remove her shedding hair. The release button and hand grip are amazing! Although, the price has gone up over the years any of their brushes are worth it as they are going to work and last for a long time!

I’ve got a German shepherd (aka German Shedder) and I love this! I bought it because a friend recommended it to me and compared to the old brush we used, it gets way more hair. It’s also good for brushing out matted hair (our dog has allergies and licks himself a fair bit) without being painful or pulling hair out. I love that it has the guard so I don’t need to worry about hurting myself on it when we aren’t using it. You still have to do it consistently, as with any grooming, but it’s always satisfying to see the big pile of hair after I’m done brushing him out.

I have labradors with super thick coats. In spring and fall they start to look like crap as their coats start changing for the season. My sister-in-law is a groomer and recommended this tool. We purchased it and have been using for a few years now. It was pricy for a comb but we went with it anyway. Once a week we brush our dogs and find that it really works to removes excess fur. We see a huge difference in their appearance and shed ratio. I don’t find clumps of fur all over everything and my dogs look sleek and shiny. The tool itself is sturdy, heavy, and quality, though it didn’t stop my dog from chewing it up so I recommend putting it away so you don’t have to purchase a replacement like I did. Best. Purchase. Ever.

I am so glad I discovered this tool. My Cattle Dog doesn't shed heavily all year round, but when she goes through one of her bi-annual sheds, her fur comes off in droves, and there is fur everywhere - on the carpet, on the floor on the furniture, on my clothes, in the food, in the air. I used a regular shedding comb for a while, but it never picked up the bulk of her flying fur. A friend suggested I get a the furminator, THis thing really works! I now use it every morning as part of our routine. As she approaches a shed cycle the fur captured by the furminator starts to build. In the midst of her heavy shedding I use it 3-4 times a day, and that keep my air (and my carpets, clothes, furniture, food, etc) relatively free of her fur.

My siberian husky hit her fall shedding time a few weeks back. I had a cheap undercoat rake that was pulling out a lot of hair. I still couldn't walk across my floor with socks on or they'd be covered. Bought the furminator and WOW is all I can say. I used her undercoat rake one night and the furminator the next night and proof is in the pictures. There has been a 90% reduction in dog hair on my furniture, floor, and clothes. I've been suggesting it to all the other parents we have seen at the dog park in the week since.

Must have!!! Won't regret!!!

I have tried over 4 different brushes. My dog is a pyrenees mix that has a thick undercoat. Nothing would come off him when brushing before. This brush is expensive but it's an absolute blessing. So easy to use, dog loved it, just laid there as mounds of hair came off. Must have!!!!

The worst tool to buy for your pets

This product is absolutely awful!!!! Please don’t buy this and use it on your animal! Furminator is a tool that acts a a razor so essentially you are take off your pets top coat of hair when that’s not even part of the coat that sheds it’s the bottom coat. In the long run you’ll ruin your pets hair causing it to mate and causing your pet not to shed properly and making them super uncomfortable. Please do your pets a favor and never buy any furminator deshedding brush. (Recommended: metal pet hair rakes, metal bristle brush)
